PWG's own trios tournament?

Postby TheGhostOfChrisBosh » Tue Jan 01, 2013 11:19 am

I was watching King of Trios and thought "Why not, PWG?" I have two names so far: Do You Like Threesomes? or DDT2 (Dynamite Duumvirate Trios Tournament).
A one night tournament, featuring 8 three man teams:

DojoBros (Eddie Edwards, Roderick Strong, and Adam Cole).
Brian Cage and the Young Bucks.
El Generico and the Super Smash Brothers.
Willie Mack, Ricochet, and Rich Swann.
The Briscoe Brothers and Davey Richards.
Kevin Steen, Akira Tozawa, and Michael Elgin.
OI4K (Sami Callihan, Dave Crist, and Jake Crist).
The Gentleman's Club (Chuck Taylor, Orange Cassidy, and Drew Gulak). [PLEASE!]

Standard single elimination bracket. Field of 8, then 4, then the final match.

Alternate teams:

Golden Lovers (Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi) and Chuck Taylor.
PUMA and Los Luchas.
The Rottweilers (Homicide and Low Ki) and B-Boy.

This could be a two-night event, with the second (or first) night being a supercard of sorts.

Could potentially be a cool show. Personally, I'd want to have...

The Fightin' Taylor Boys (Ryan Taylor, Chuck Taylor, and Brian Cage-Taylor)
World-1 International (Ricochet, Rich Swann, and CIMA)
Team Ambition (Davey Richards, Kyle O'Reilly, and Tony Kozina)
Ohio Is For Killers (Sami Callihan, and The irish Airborne)
BLK OUT (Eddie Kingston, Ruckus, and Blk Jeez)
Strong Style Thugs (Homicide, B-Boy, and Low-Ki) [Personally I could pass on Ki, but whatever)
Dojo Bros (Roderick Strong, Eddie Edwards, and Adam Cole)
The Dynasty (Chris Bosh, Scott Lost, and Scorpio Sky) [I think this team alone would make the internet go apeshit]

I'd rather see PWG just stick with DDT4, in my humble opinion.

Its a cool idea, but the only flaw is that you would need to get rid of DDT4, cause personally i think it would be weird having two tag team tournaments a year. And plus tag team tournaments are a lot better for making new matchups.

Not to be a stickler, but CIMA is not in W1I. His teaming with them would make sense since he and Ricochet were a prolific team (The Spiked Mohicans). Maybe a mash up of the Spiked Mohicans and one of the Swann/Ricochet names? (Legion of Coon, Inner-City Machine Guns, etc.)

Highly doubt that something like this would ever happen. Although 'Team PWG' would be an awesome team for King of Trios. There could be so many options.

Young Bucks and Brian Cage or
SSB and Willie Mack.

This will most likely never happen cuz PWG isn't going to have any involvement with Chikara or EVOLVE running in Reseda this year.
