Pre-Reason For The Season 2004 Underpimped Matches:
88 Miles Per Hour: SBS and The X-Foundation vs. Topgun Talwar, AXP, Chris Bosh, and Charles Mercury
The build up leading to this match was done really well. With the near riot after the SBS/AXP and Bosh 6 Man from the show before helped set things up really well. The match did a good job of keeping up with the Joey Ryan/Super Dragon feud at one point as they started to attack eachother while the younger guys watched and egged them on. The eliminations where done really well. The Topgun elimination was done well as he took everyone's finisher, as a form of redemption from his buisness partners and friends. The Sky/Dragon interactions where cool aswell, and Sky hitting Dragon with a chair to help out his team was gold, as it showed he was willing to take himself out of the match just to gain an advantage and added a new element to his character. It also helped set the tone for the Quick/Bosh vs. X-Foundation match which also helped setup the break up for the X-Foundation. Just an awesome match overall.
Kee_ The _ee Out Of Our _ool: Ricky Reyes vs. Puma
This was one of the better Puma matches. The crowd was really hot for this, and Ricky was showing a side that he had rarely shown before prior to this point. He was being a great dickhead heel, and at one point rips off Puma's mask which got the crowd even more upset. Great match that seems to have been lost in time.
Kee_ The _ee Out Of Our _ool: Adam Pearce vs. Bobby Quance
Bobby was so underrated, and this match showed why. At first I thought the match wouldn't be that good, as it was a huge styles clash going into this but I was surprised. Bobby worked so well and did a great job adjusting to Adam's style. Great match worth checking out.
The Musical: Apollo Kahn vs. Ricky Reyes
This also got a good amount of praise around the time it happend, but the hype sort of died down a but and is rarely mentioned when great PWG matches are disscussed. The knee selling from Kahn was great and the story was really fun. Ricky continued his streak of awesome singles matches in this one, and to this day he's still one of the most underrated wrestlers on the scene.
The Musical: The Thomasellis vs. The X-Foundation
The continuation of the breakup of the X-Foundation, and an awesome six man tag and PWG's introduction to Brandon Thomaselli. The match meshed really well, and there where so many cool spots. The real keeper here is when Joey and Scott where going for the win, but Scott dived to the outside to save Tommy and Joey ended up losing the match and getting mad at Scott was well played.
44 Ways To Kill You With A Pimento: SBS vs. M-Dogg and Josh Prohibition
This match was so whacky, fun, and shocking. Dragon was great here, and Josh Prohibition did a good job in his debut match. Dragon and Excalibur worked amazingly well as a team, and it's a shame they aren't teaming up anymore as they where one of the best tag teams in PWG. While the match itself was really fun, it was definitly overshadowed by the M-Dogg turnbuckle nut buster. One of the most insane things I've seen in my life.
44 Ways To Kill You With A Pimento: B-Boy vs. Scorpio Sky
Right after Sky split from the younger Rev Pro group hellbent on breaking out and becoming a force in PWG. This match was a lot of fun, and there was a lot of great stuff packed into this match. They had another match later on in the summer in AWS, but it wasn't as good as this match.
Rocktoberfest: Sexual Tension and Aggression vs. Supa Bad, Human Tornado, Lil Cholo, and Phoenix Star
One of the finer PWG Multi-Man tag openers, next to the 6 man tag from AYAPTR. These guys put together a really fun match with tons of great spots and a lot of great comedy mixed in. Disco leading the former Anti-PWG young guys onto a new path to try and better themselves and to release their pent up sexual rage made for a great story.
Rocktoberfest: SBS vs. The X-Foundation
A year before, both teams faced off against eachother in APW-LA in an awesome match. This was no differen, except for the fact that it was in a different venue in a different promotion in a different county. The break up for the X-Foundation finally taking place and Joey having to take on Dragon and Excalibur on his own was great. The setup for the match the month after was also great. An awesome match that needs to be seen by PWG fans who haven't seen it already.
That's all for now. I'll probably put in more underrated matches tomorrow depending on how bored I am.
