PWG Anthology Set

Postby Itchypanda » Thu Feb 16, 2012 11:15 am

I've seen this set of the first 9 DVD's on sale on Amazon for less than $40. Is this real? Is this a Highspots promotion? I'm only asking because these DVD's aren't for sale on this website. Maybe this is an old anthology set that has been around before I joined the message boards. Any answer would help before I take the plunge.

Sorry, the description was misleading, it looks like a random 9 DVD's slapped together. There are multiple anthology sets on sale.

Yeah, Highspots sold these a few years ago. Just the discs in new packaging.

Why HighSpots hasn't re-released some of the first few shows is beyond me. I've been a PWG fan since 2004 and even back then I recall some of them being sold out.

At least their not trying to erase their entire history like ROH is, almost everything before 08 or 09 is unavlaible (cant remember exactly) , no wonder people are frustrated with that company.

The first few DVDs ("Debut Show" through "Tango and Cash") all contained entrance music, music videos, and what not. If PWG wanted to re-release them through HighSpots, they would have to go back edit out everything containing copyrighted music. I guess they never thought it would be worth the effort.

They may be right too, as much as I love the Debut show, I can't see that being a huge seller in 2012. It'd be cool to see these re-released though. The very early PWG commentary is fantastic, almost MST3Kish...

One day they'll all be available to purchase through download or some video library service. I own everything so I'm good. 8)

I'm pretty sure Highspots still sells all of these sets on Ebay.

The sets that are sold on Amazon were the sets created for the 7th anniversary. Starting with Taste the Radness, every show until Giant Sized Annual #4 are included in sets of 9-10 shows. If you buy Vol. 1, you get every PWG show from Taste the Radness until The Next Show. That just continues over the next six volumes.

I, myself, own Vol. 2 and 3. Awesome price and it's a great way buy some of the lesser shows. When you're basically paying a little over four bucks per show, even the worst shows are worth it.

Hi, my question is, as a newer PWG fan.. (I only own the PWG sells out 1 and BOLA 2007 night 3) but I've seen like two newer shows, is getting these sets worth it? On Amazon, Highspots sells these and the newer PWG DVDS. I'm pondering what to get...Also, these are the same shows when they first were released right? No editing?
