This year's BOTW looks really, really, really, weak and predictable. You have the one very obvious pick(Sky), then you have the two likely canidates who could be considered upsets(Koslov and Perkins), and the rest. I remember seeing BOTW 1 on DVD and it was really good, and it had great star power behind it that brought credibility to the name Best Of The West. This lineup obviously looks scrapped together, what with the top west coast talents being booked in ROH or IWA-MS that weekend. Ryan Drago was decent when I saw him, I'm not sure if Hook is still able to go, Bino Gambino is pretty annoying inside the ring with his weird gimmick and hasn't done much to impress me, and Instant Replay is pretty green and has a lot of room for improvments. Perkins doesn't interest me much. Sky and Koslov are the only two selling points on the show, and I haven't seen Infernal wrestle since 2003.

The rest of the card is pretty unapealing to me, and $15 price tag seems too high for my liking. This seems like a terrible weekend to book this show, with all the unavailable talent that could of been booked. This doesn't even seem like it should be called "Best Of The West" in my mind.

Sorry, I couldn't understand your incoherent ramblings. Seeing new wrestlers isn't always good.

It's definitely not the strongest line up (it feels like it's missing something), but it's solid enough and I'm a big fan of tourneys in general... so I'll check this show out tommorrow.

As for a prediction, I have no clue. But it looks like Scorpio Sky, Koslov and TJ are almost too likely to win it at this point. But I really can't see any of the others taking it (possibly Drago in an upset or Infernal just because it's a WPW show) SO just for the sake of having a prediction, I'll go with Sky.

Oh, and for those let down by this tourney. I have heard vague rumors of NJPW possibly doing the BOTASJ tourney in SoCal in May... so maybe that will be more to your liking (if that even happens).

This tournament does seem pretty disapointing. Nothing really *Best* of the West so far. Infernal deserves to win the whole tournament, though.

Those of you who voted for TJ Perkins (which is none of you, as he wasn't a poll option!) were right.

Show results:

Sexy Chino and R2K Over Chippy and ??? (didn't hear his name, he had a RIC FLAIR hair cut however)

Opening Round:
Alex Koslov Over Ryan Drago
Infernal Over Mr. Instant Replay
Bino Gambino Over Junior (who subbed for Scorpio Sky, who wasn't there for some unannounced reason, a real let down for me)
TJ Perkins Over Hook Bomberry

Al Katrazz Over Babi Slymm to become the #1 contender for the AWS title

Semi Finals:
Infernal Over Alex Koslov
TJ Perkins Over Bino Gambino

Lil' Cholo Over Charles Mercury and Lionheart to retain the AWS LA Lightweight championship

Finals:
TJ Perkins Over Infernal to win the 2006 Best of The West

I thought Koslov-Drago was the best match. I wouldn't mind seeing PWG give Drago another chance (his only PWG appearance was actually in PWG's first ever match) He had a good showing here.
