DDT4 First Round Matches Announced! Brackets Unknown!
By Silverback, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Staff Writer

April 23, 2010 - In just over two weeks, eight tag teams will meet at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's DDT4 with the winners claiming (or retaining) the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Tag Team Championship! Wait, two weeks? We should really get around to announcing the first round then. But since simply announcing the tournament brackets would be too easy, we've decided to mix things up this year: the tournament brackets will remain a mystery until the second round of the tournament is ready to actually take place!

With no tournament brackets announced in advance, this means that the tournament competitors will have an extremely difficult time preparing for their matches beyond the First Round. On the surface, this wrinkle may seem to favor the more experienced duos in the tournament, since their teamwork is a major factor in their success. However, that is not always the case, since the impromptu team of "American Dragon" Bryan "Daniel Bryan" Danielson and Roderick "Strong Rod" Strong made it all the way to the DDT4 Finals in 2009, thanks in large part to their individual abilities, but also their opponents' inability to prepare. Will the brackets going unannounced level the playing field at DDT4? The best way to find out is by being at American Legion Post #308 in person on Sunday, May 9! Get your tickets now!

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's DDT4 will feature:

DDT4 First Round Match/Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Championship Title Match
The Young Bucks/Generation Me (Matt & Nick Jackson/Jeremy & Max Buck) vs. Johnny Goodtime & Jerome "LTP" Robinson

DDT4 First Round Match
The Briscoe Brothers (Jay & Mark Briscoe) vs. KAMIKAZE (Akira Tozawa & YAMATO)

DDT4 First Round Match
"The Professional" Scott Lost & Chuck Taylor vs.

Man, those are 5 random ass teams. But I like it. But we also need some catchy team names like "Men of Low Moral Fiber". Taylor/Lost- "Men of Some Moral Fiber". Strong/Taylor- "Strong Unknowns". LTP/Goodtime. I really got nothing on those two. Someone find the a good name please. Anyway, I see it like this:

Quarter Finals
The Briscoe Brothers vs. The Cutler Brothers
Generation Me vs. LTP/Goodtime
Strong Unknowns vs. KAMIKAZE (YAMATO and Strong's Exchanges Should Be Epic)
Peligro Abejas vs. Men of Some Moral Fiber

Semi Finals
The Briscoe Brothers vs. Peligro Abejas
Strong Unknowns vs. Generation Me

Finals
Peligro Abejas vs. Generation Me

It's a coin toss. I won't flip it quite yet. It depends of London can handle a title reign.

PWG World Title: Davey Richards(c) vs. Chris Hero vs. Kenny Omega

Cool. Would have preferred the Machine Guns over the Briscoes though.

Some thoughts: Kamikaze + PWG = greatness, so excited to see YAMATO in PWG, definately long overdue.
Sucks not to see the guns, but I'm sure other teams styles will be making up for the style we lose with the machine guns.
Lost and Chucky T is one of the greatest sounding new teams announced, arrogance 2.0?
Always good to have some locals on the cards and putting some of these locals in the tournament can get them a very huge rub (I.e Ryan Taylor) and I hope the Cutlers are in the ring with some good talent and put on a strong showing....
Ehh on PWG on a Sunday but I'll try to be there nonetheless...
No osirian portal makes me mad but looks like a great show anyways!!

Cutlers over Briscoes, 2nd round. Calling it now.

I could see DANGER BEES winning the whole thing.

Eh. I'm kinda disappointed Brandon Gatson isn't in this. I was hoping he'd team with Scott Lost or Roderick Strong. Oh well. Intresting line up......

Yeah. Maybe next year the time of The Brandon Connection (Gatson & Bonham) will come.

This is a great looking lineup, some unexpected teams but I really like the potential for new interactions. Scott Lost & Chuck Taylor could be my new favorite tag team, great to see Chucky T back. KAMIKAZE is a nice treat and could Roderick Strong/Ryan Taylor be a Super Dragon/Davey Richards type of tag team, veteran guy with a young up and commer... i like it. Very much looking forward to this and interested to see what the non tournament lineup will have

OK, I've pre-ordered for pretty much every show I've gone to. A question, when do they tend to cut off pre-orders? I know most shows are on Fridays, and you definitely can't order them the day of. But, I'm just curious, cause I get paid the Friday before.

Just want to know if I should butter someone up to order mine, with the intent to pay back, or, chance it.

I can't imagine they would fly in Yamato and Towaza to have this lose in one round. I think they will be going through for sure.

I really hope this show has Davey and Hero.

Once again, I'm going to drive over from Las Vegas for this show!

Me and cman today just bought 2 front row seats.

I think the finals will be the Young Bucks vs the Briscoes in a rematch from Titannica.

looks great, real surprised on the date for DDT4 but I guess its PWG's way to get Dragon Gate guys and personally glad we have YAMATO and Akira Tozawa making their PWG debut instead of the traditional Dragon Gate guys appearing, hopefully we get a few more DG guys for this show in non-tournament action

I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't a little disappointed that the London/Kendrick and Omega/Taylor teams didn't make it, but I do really like the line up. Some teams seem really random, but PWG has such a great track record with past random teams (Arrogance, HT/Generico, Cape Fear, Omega/Taylor, Strong/PAC, SD/Davey, TJ/Hook to name a few) that it will be pretty exciting to see how these new teams work out.

Now we just have to guess the non-tournament matches. BxB Hulk, SHINGO, Dragon Kid, Masato Yoshino, Naruki Doi, Masaaki Mochizuki, CIMA are on the DGUSA show the day before. So I suppose seeing a couple of them on the card wouldn't be much of a stretch.

Sounds like its going to be a fun show.

I'm figuring Cutlers over Generation Me or the Briscoes in the finals.

For non-tournament matches I'd save Davey/Hero til a non-tournament show. Gatson has been on a big run, maybe he could get a shot at Davey. If not, how about a #1 contender match with Gatson vs. Joey?
