Great stuff though. I can't wait. I'm wondering who Generico's Partner will be?? And if we will have new Tag Team Champions?

Kenny Omega and Chuck Taylor, more stupid comedy, Face it people Chuck Taylor is not Funny, I used to watch Chuck Taylor work his ass off in the Midwest and in Chikara, but for some reason he does nothing but comedy in PWG. I don't mind Kenny Omega, he is funny although he ovordoes his comedy act as well, 99 and 100 were good shows but the amount of comedy in my opinion took it away from great wrestling. I honestly dont want to see two consecutive comedy matches with Brian Danielson, I want to see a classic wrestling match when I see Danielson. I just hope that PWG can focus on great wrestling that its known for, and I hope that DDT4 won't be ruined by comedy.

I don't like comedy in wrestling, when I see comedy I feel like I'm being ripped off. But thats just my opinion, so don't bash it if you choose to reply. We all have our likes and dislikes.

DDT4 on May 22, 2009 - Next team announced!

On Friday, May 22, 2009, at American Legion Post #308 in Reseda, CA, eight of the best tag teams in professional wrestling will collide at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's DDT4, and tickets for this event are on sale now at the DDT4 Mini-Site! Front Row tickets are $25, and General Admission tickets are $20!

The fourth team to enter Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's DDT4 tournament may seem like a random pairing at first, but when you think about the tag team accomplishments of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Champion Chris Hero and three-time former Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Tag Team Champion Roderick Strong, it starts making sense.

Chris Hero of course holds the highest title Pro Wrestling Guerrilla can grant to a single wrestler, and was a finalist in the 2008 Battle of Los Angeles, but prior to all of that, Hero was a highly decorated tag team wrestler, as well. Along with Claudio Castagnoli, Chris Hero entered the first ever DDT4 in 2007 in an unsuccessful bid for the titles, but since then, he has been so consumed with his pursuit of Human Tornado and then the defense of the World Championship title that tag team wrestling took a backseat. At least it had, until now.

As the co-winner of the two previous DDT4 tournaments, Roderick Strong's entry into this year's tournament comes as no surprise. The real surprise, as always, is who Strong would be teaming with. When asked at One Hundred who his partner would be this year, Roderick was unsure, but was confident that no matter who he was paired with, a third tournament victory was in the cards. Now that Roderick Strong has teamed up with the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Champion, Strong's duo looks like an early favorite to once again walk away from DDT4 victorious.

Team 1 -- The Dynasty (Scott Lost & Joey Ryan)

Team 2 -- Los Luchas (Phoenix Star & Zokre)

Team 3 -- Kenny Omega & Chuck Taylor

Team 4 -- Chris Hero & Roderick Strong

Well, that IS pretty random. Them vs the Dynasty sounds like it would be fun however.

This does bring up a few questions though:

If Hero is in the tournament, what will the non-tournament match be now? I thought for sure that it would be a Hero title defense. Excalibur even mentioned Hero defending the title on the last Dr. Keith show. I guess this elusive PWG board of directors had other plans...

With Strong teaming with Hero, where does this leave Davey?

As of now, it looks like the Young Bucks and London/Danielson are the only "sure" entrants left. Which still leaves us with regulars like Davey, El Generico, Sky, Tornado, B-Boy, Cutler Brothers and whatever surprises they may want to add leftover.

Heck, I half expect El Generico and Colt Cabana to be the next team... which would be pretty awesome come to think of it.

Yeah, I bet Dino is rolling around in his grave right now... either that or he is sitting at home playing Fire Pro.

Anyway, just wanted to add on to something I mentioned in my above post: I now really want to see El Generico and Colt Cabana vs Kenny Omega and Chuck Taylor more than anything. Let's hope the board of directors gets that booked! I'm sure everyone (except that one guy in this thread who hates comedy wrestling) would love it.

I can half agree about comedy wrestling. There's just a time and a place for it. Maybe such a huge tournament like DDT4 isn't the place for it, but even then, the key point is entertainment. PWG has never had the most amazing wrestling. There might even be places with better comedy. PWG offers the hybrid of action and comedy. It's different for everyone but if I'm entertained, then I'm happy. I don't need the best comedy or wrestling, just give me something to be entertained by.

I love they way this tournament is shaping up. It's got the established teams, but we've gotten two unique, first time pairings now and that makes the tournament feel a lot more special since no one else has ever seen them before. This should all just be really, really fun and entertaining. And we've still got 4 teams to go!

Here's to hoping this is the first year Roddy doesn't win, going out in the first round sounds good.

This Board of Directors sure is drawing my ire with this team choice.

The only sense I can make of the Strong/Hero pairing is that they're building towards Hero's next feud -- after they lose, Roddy turns on Hero for costing him his third straight DDT4 win. Even so, a little random. (The one cool thing they could do is have Roddy challenge Hero for the belt that same night. Could be good fun, in an overbooked sort of way.)

I love the idea of Colt/Generico vs. Chuck/Omega, though. And I do hope Dark & Lovely gets slotted in here... if they don't get this booking over Los Luchas, it's a crime.

Agreed. Dark & Lovely or 2 Skinny Black Guys is a must for this tourney in my opinion.

Interesting combination. Thats going to be something to see how it plays out.

I don't know I like some comedy wrestling and some serious action packed wrestling. I guess I have a sense of humor a bit more then others. I mean sometimes you need a laugh. If people want serious stuff then they must be happy with the same stuff on TV lately. :/

Personally I love some change, some comedy. Makes things a bit more interesting at times. It shows character, charisma, enthusiasm and of course humor. I've grown up watching wrestling and yes there are sometimes a good serious match can grasp attention, but there are also those times when you can seriously grasp the humor as well.

PWG actually got me interested by most of its humor as well as it's great wrestling. I used to watch the videos of Steen and Generico, Chris Bosh, The Dynasty, Cold Cabana and others and that made it seem like it was different. It wasn't just the same boring serious stuff. It had some fun to it. It mixed it up. Which in my opinion can make the company a lot bigger in the long run.

PWG is one of those few companies I'm glad mixes it up. To me it's a lot more worth then some of those other bigger shows we now see on TV. And worth so much more when paying for a ticket.

Well I ranted about my part, now lets see who else they bring!!! I'm still crossing my fingers for HART FOUNDATION 2.0!!!!! Please!!!!! Also 2 Skinny Black Guys sounds like one wikkid combination!!! Or Even El Steenerico. But lets also put a title on the line and have a title change!!!! I love when title changes happen!!! Because that begins a whole new round of insanity!!!

Cheers

DDT4 on May 22, 2009 - Fifth team announced!

Postby PWG_Silverback » Tue Apr 21, 2009 11:41 pm

On Friday, May 22, 2009, at American Legion Post #308 in Reseda, CA, eight of the best tag teams in professional wrestling will collide at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's DDT4, and tickets for this event are on sale now at the DDT4 Mini-Site! Front Row tickets are $25, and General Admission tickets are $20!

"American Dragon" Bryan Danielson and "Intrepid Traveler" Paul London make up the fifth team to enter Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's DDT4. Not much more needs to be said, but we pay by the word for these write ups, so here goes.

The histories of Bryan Danielson and Paul London, while very similar, highlight two very different paths to greatness in the world of professional wrestling. Both men started their careers at the Texas Wrestling Academy (located in Birmingham, Alabama), and though their paths would not cross in training, after striking out into independent wrestling Danielson and London would find themselves as adversaries on numerous occasions. Both would experience great success earlier this decade, but that is where the similarities end.

Danielson redoubled his efforts into refining his abilities in the art of professional wrestling, traveling the world to learn from the masters of the craft, and apply those techniques to his own. London, a life-long fan of the serialized comic strip Calvin & Hobbes, followed in the footsteps of interplanetary explorer extraordinaire Spaceman Spiff and traveled to the far reaches of the galaxy on a five-year mission. Not much is know about London's travels in outer space, but it was clear that when he returned he was suffering from some form of "space madness," leaving only a precious few that could communicate with him.

Luckily, two individuals that can speak to London are part of the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla locker room: former rival "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson and World Champion Chris Hero. Overjoyed with the prospect of communicating with humans once again, London formed an immediate bond with both men. At One Hundred, that bond proved useful as London and Danielson helped Chris Hero avoid catastrophe at the hands of Scott Lost and Joey Ryan, The Dynasty.

Now that he has readjusted to Earth's atmosphere, London told the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Board of Directors he would like to rekindle his tag team with his good friend "Brian" and is intent on winning DDT4 to prove the allegations of "space madness" unfounded. When Bryan Danielson was asked if he was aware that London was confusing Danielson with Brian Kendrick, based on the pronunciation of their first names, Danielson said he was willing to put up with "a little space madness" in order to win the tournament.

Team 1 -- The Dynasty (Scott Lost & Joey Ryan)

Team 2 -- Los Luchas (Phoenix Star & Zokre)

Team 3 -- Kenny Omega & Chuck Taylor

Team 4 -- Chris Hero & Roderick Strong

Team 5 -- Bryan Danielson & Paul London
