On Friday, May 22, 2009, at American Legion Post #308 in Reseda, CA, eight of the best tag teams in professional wrestling will collide at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's
DDT4, and tickets for this event are on sale now at the
DDT4 Mini-Site! Front Row tickets are $25, and General Admission tickets are $20!
Along with announcing the final two opening round matches for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's
DDT4, we are pleased to also report that yesterday in Japan, World Tag Team Champions
The Young Bucks successfully defended the titles against the team of
Akira Tozawa and
Shingo Takagi. That means that the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Tag Team Championship will be on the line throughout the entire
DDT4 tournament! With their fifth overall title defense behind them,
Matt and
Nick Jackson will be coming into
DDT4 with some serious momentum, which they'll need when they take on
Brandon and
Dustin Cutler in a Block A Opening Round Match!
After successfully defending the titles against the Motor City Machine Guns at
Ninety-Nine, The Young Bucks seemed to go from perennial underdogs to tentative favorites overnight. A bit surprised by this new status, Matt and Nick Jackson offered long-time training partners The Cutler Brothers a shot at the titles the next night at
One Hundred. The Bucks say that no one knows them better than Brandon and Dustin Cutler, and if there are two men that could bring the Bucks back to earth after such a big victory, it would be the Cutlers.
Though the Cutlers were unable to defeat The Young Bucks at
One Hundred, they impressed the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Board of Directors enough to earn themselves not only a spot in
DDT4, but a rematch with the Bucks as well! While they've only had a handful of matches in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, the Cutler Brothers are sure to be a tag team force in the coming months and years, and a victory over their rivals The Young Bucks would be a huge first step for Brandon and Dustin.
The final
DDT4 opening round match to be announced once again pits a longstanding tag team against a newly formed duo, as
Chris Sabin and
Alex Shelley, the Motor City Machine Guns, take on
Roderick Strong and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Champion
Chris Hero.
On paper, it might seem like a mismatch, but Roderick Strong's record not only in previous
DDT4s, but as a tag team competitor in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla must be taken in to consideration. Strong has held the World Tag Team Championship on three separate occasions, two of which came after winning
DDT4. Not to mention the tag team experience of World Champion Chris Hero, who along with
Claudio Castagnoli formed one of the most successful tag teams in recent memory. With a wealth of individual experience and plenty of time to prepare before the tournament, Chris Hero and Roderick Strong will likely be a force to be reckoned with at
DDT4.
What more needs to be said about the team opposing Chris Hero and Roderick Strong? They are one of, if not the most popular tag teams in professional wrestling today, and have held titles all around the world. Originally scheduled to be participants in the very first
DDT4, contractual obligations kept the Motor City Machine Guns out of the tournament, and according to the Guns, that's what allowed Roderick Strong's team to win. After returning to Pro Wrestling Guerrilla at
Ninety-Nine, Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley found out first hand how the level of tag team wrestling in PWG has increased since they've been gone.
When they left the building after
Ninety-Nine, Sabin and Shelley had a suitcase full of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla DVDs which they've been using to scout their competition in the tournament. Above all else, the Guns would love to have a rematch with The Young Bucks as a tournament final, but thanks to countless hours spent strategizing, Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley feel prepared for any team they might meet in the tournament. Although this is their first
DDT4, the Motor City Machine Guns feel like it was always intended to be their tournament, and will fulfill their destiny with their victory this year.
On May 22, 2009 at 8:00PM at American Legion Hall #308 in Reseda, CA, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's

Nearing the end of their tour with Dragon Gate, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Tag Team Champions
Matt and
Nick Jackson will be putting their titles on the line Sunday, May 3rd in Japan! In a match that could have huge ramifications for
DDT4, The Young Bucks will be defending the titles against KAMIKAZE members
Shingo Takagi and
Akira Tozawa.
While Akira Tozawa has not appeared in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla before, fans may recognize Shingo Takagi from the
2007 Battle of Los Angeles, where he advanced to the second round before being eliminated by eventual tournament winner
CIMA.
This title match is the last stop for The Young Bucks before
DDT4, so a loss here would essentially turn the event into a Number One Contender tournament. Huge ramifications, indeed! Check back on Monday, May 4 for results of the World Tag Team Championship title match, as well as the complete tournament brackets of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's
DDT4! Visit the

-----------------------------------------------------
The second opening round match for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's
DDT4 will be the next chapter in the budding rivalry between The Dynasty (
Scott Lost &
Joey Ryan) and the Hybrid Dolphins ("American Dolphin"
Bryan Danielson & "Dolphin Master"
Paul London).
Scott Lost and Joey Ryan are multiple-time Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Tag Team Champions, though the
DDT4 has never been a part of their tag team success. Eliminated in the opening round of last year's tournament, The Dynasty hopes to make a much better showing this year by winning it all. But with the dynamic duo of the Hybrid Dolphins as their opponents and Joey Ryan's concern with the length of
Chris Hero's World Championship title reign, will The Dynasty be able to focus on reclaiming their tag team glory?
Even though the team of Bryan Danielson and Paul London have yet to wrestle their first match as a tag team, the odds seem to favor the Hybrid Dolphins due to their individual skills. While Pro Wrestling Guerrilla cannot vouch for the oddsmakers at various offshore gambling websites, we can agree that both Danielson and London are incredible singles competitors. However,
DDT4 marks their first test as a tag team, and due to the single elimination format of the tournament, there is very little room for error.
Will Bryan Danielson be able to put years of singles competition to the back of his mind and function as an efficient tag team partner? Will Paul London be able to consume enough bars of soap to retroactively combat the effects of Space Madness, or will his ill-fated journey to the Crab Nebula prove to be the undoing of the Hybrid Dolphins?
Also added to Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's
DDT4 is a non-tournament singles contest between
B-Boy and
Human Tornado. The rivalry between these two men goes all the way back to
Card Subject to Change in January 2005, where B-Boy not only managed to defeat Human Tornado, but to dislocate Tornado's shoulder in the process.
Then last month at
One Hundred, the two met as a part of a Six-Person Tag Team Match that saw Tornado's side picking up the victory. Human Tornado has been sending out messages via Facebook saying that B-Boy is just a shell of his former self since returning to Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, and that 2005 Human Tornado was nobody, but 2009 Human Tornado is a two-time World Champion.
When offered the chance for rebuttal, B-Boy declined, saying he'd prefer to give his response in the ring. Will B-Boy still have the upper hand on Human Tornado when they meet at
DDT4, or will the former world champion's grandstanding have gotten under the skin of "The New Age Punisher?" Find out on May 22 at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's
DDT4!
-----------------------------------------------------
The first match to be announced for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's
DDT4 is the opening round contest between Lucha Libre tag team specialists
Phoenix Star and
Zokre, Los Luchas, and the newly minted duo of
Kenny Omega and
Chuck Taylor.
Phoenix Star and Zokre were a part of 2008's
DDT4, where they advanced to the second round, but were eliminated by the eventual tournament winners,
Roderick Strong and
Jack Evans. This year, Los Luchas are intent on making it all the way through the finals, and walking away with the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Tag Team Championship if The Young Bucks come into
DDT4 with the titles.
Kenny Omega and Chuck Taylor may not have the years of experience that Los Luchas have, but they do have plenty of pluck, moxy, and grit, which when combined with their love of the antic, is a potent combination. Omega and Taylor's mission in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla their lives is the utter destruction of
El Generico and his orphanage,
Los Angelitos de El Generico. When Omega and Taylor heard that Los Luchas would be donating their tournament winnings to the orphans because El Generico's injury prevented him from competing in the tournament, that was all the motivation they needed to make sure Los Luchas wouldn't advance past the first round.
If they are able to deal with Phoenix Star and Zokre in the opening round of 2009's
DDT4, will Kenny Omega nad Chuck Taylor be able to pull it together and focus on their second round opponents? Or will Los Luchas' wealth of tag team experience give them an edge over this brand new team? Find out on May 22 at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's
DDT4!
-----------------------------------------------------
The eighth and final team entered in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's
DDT4 was originally scheduled to be in the first ever tournament in 2007, however due to a variety of reasons they were unable to compete. Now,
Chris Sabin and
Alex Shelley, the Motor City Machine Guns, have their sights set on the tournament victory that eluded them two years ago.
Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley made their return to Pro Wrestling Guerrilla at
Ninety-Nine, when they challenged
Matt and
Nick Jackson, The Young Bucks, for the World Tag Team Championship. Though they were unable to defeat the reigning Tag Team Champions, the Machine Guns were so impressed by The Young Bucks that they asked the Jackson brothers for a rematch as soon as possible. While The Young Bucks were unable to grant an immediate rematch, they petitioned the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Board of Directors to include Sabin and Shelley in
DDT4.
With their inclusion in
DDT4, the Motor City Machine Guns have the possibility of meeting up with The Young Bucks once again, though no one knows exactly when. It could happen in the first round, with the titles changing hands and the Guns going on to defend throughout the tournament. Or if each team finds themselves on opposite sides of the brackets, the rematch could be the tournament final. But with six other teams vying for a chance to win
DDT4, there's a strong possibility that neither the Bucks nor the Guns will be present in the tournament final.
-----------------------------------------------------
With less than a handful of appearances in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla to their credit,
Brandon and
Dustin Cutler have impressed the Board of Directors enough to earn themselves the sixth spot in 2009's
DDT4. The Cutler Brothers made their Pro Wrestling Guerrilla debut earlier this year against
Los Luchas, but it wasn't until World Tag Team Champions
The Young Bucks offered the Cutlers an impromptu shot at the titles at
One Hundred that Brandon and Dustin were viewed as a legitimate tag team force. Now, The Cutler Brothers have an opportunity to climb to the very top of the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla tag team scene in a single night. Are the brothers prepared, or with the other seven teams be caught unawares by the Cutlers?
The seventh team to enter Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's
DDT4 are probably the least surprising entry into the tournament, but that is no knock on their abilities; The Young Bucks are the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Tag Team Champions for a reason! Currently in Japan competing for Dragon Gate,
Matt and
Nick Jackson have the second longest reign of any Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Tag Team Champions, and if they successfully defend the titles in Japan, they will come back to the United States and put the titles on the line at
DDT4!
If The Young Bucks come into
DDT4 as champions, then every match the brothers have on May 22 will be a title match.
El Generico and "Mr. Wrestling"
Kevin Steen attempted to defend the titles throughout the tournament at 2008's
DDT4, but were unable to make it past the final round. Will The Young Bucks be able to do what no other team in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla history could? Find out on May 22 at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's
DDT4!
Speaking of El Generico, the former World Champion and World Tag Team Champion has been such a big part of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla over the last four years that we feel it fair to announce he will not be competing at
DDT4 due to injury. We at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla wish him a speedy and complete recovery.
-----------------------------------------------------
"American Dragon"
Bryan Danielson and "Intrepid Traveler"
Paul London make up the fifth team to enter Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's
DDT4. Not much more needs to be said, but we pay by the word for these write ups, so here goes.
The histories of Bryan Danielson and Paul London, while very similar, highlight two very different paths to greatness in the world of professional wrestling. Both men started their careers at the Texas Wrestling Academy (located in Birmingham, Alabama), and though their paths would not cross in training, after striking out into independent wrestling Danielson and London would find themselves as adversaries on numerous occasions. Both would experience great success earlier this decade, but that is where the similarities end.
Danielson redoubled his efforts into refining his abilities in the art of professional wrestling, traveling the world to learn from the masters of the craft, and apply those techniques to his own. London, a life-long fan of the serialized comic strip
Calvin & Hobbes, followed in the footsteps of interplanetary explorer extraordinaire
Spaceman Spiff and traveled to the far reaches of the galaxy on a five-year mission. Not much is know about London's travels in outer space, but it was clear that when he returned he was suffering from some form of "space madness," leaving only a precious few that could communicate with him.
Luckily, two individuals that can speak to London are part of the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla locker room: former rival "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson and World Champion
Chris Hero. Overjoyed with the prospect of communicating with humans once again, London formed an immediate bond with both men. At
One Hundred, that bond proved useful as London and Danielson helped Chris Hero avoid catastrophe at the hands of
Scott Lost and
Joey Ryan, The Dynasty.
Now that he has readjusted to Earth's atmosphere, London told the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Board of Directors he would like to rekindle his tag team with his good friend "Brian" and is intent on winning
DDT4 to prove the allegations of "space madness" unfounded. When Bryan Danielson was asked if he was aware that London was confusing Danielson with
Brian Kendrick, based on the pronunciation of their first names, Danielson said he was willing to put up with "a little space madness" in order to win the tournament.
-----------------------------------------------------
The fourth team to enter Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's
DDT4 tournament may seem like a random pairing at first, but when you think about the tag team accomplishments of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Champion
Chris Hero and three-time former Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Tag Team Champion
Roderick Strong, it starts making sense.
Chris Hero of course holds the highest title Pro Wrestling Guerrilla can grant to a single wrestler, and was a finalist in the
2008 Battle of Los Angeles, but prior to all of that, Hero was a highly decorated tag team wrestler, as well. Along with
Claudio Castagnoli, Chris Hero entered the first ever
DDT4 in 2007 in an unsuccessful bid for the titles, but since then, he has been so consumed with his pursuit of Human Tornado and then the defense of the World Championship title that tag team wrestling took a backseat. At least it had, until now.
As the co-winner of the two previous
DDT4 tournaments, Roderick Strong's entry into this year's tournament comes as no surprise. The real surprise, as always, is who Strong would be teaming with. When asked at
One Hundred who his partner would be this year, Roderick was unsure, but was confident that no matter who he was paired with, a third tournament victory was in the cards. Now that Roderick Strong has teamed up with the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Champion, Strong's duo looks like an early favorite to once again walk away from
DDT4 victorious.
-----------------------------------------------------
Joining The Dynasty in this year's
DDT4 tournament will be
Phoenix Star and
Zokre, Los Luchas, and the newly minted tag team of
Kenny Omega and
Chuck Taylor. As one of the longest standing tag teams in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, Los Luchas hope to use
DDT4 as an opportunity to inscribe their names in the history books of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla! However, Los Luchas will have their work cut out for them if they come across Kenny Omega and Chuck Taylor in the tournament. United by their mutual hatred of
El Generico, it's unclear if Omega and Taylor's hatred of the generic luchador spills over to his Mexican brethren, but either way, when two of the fastest rising stars in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla team up, it's a cause for concern to tag teams around the world!
-----------------------------------------------------
Not only are tickets for this event for sale on the
DDT4 Mini-Site, but the first tag team participating in the tournament has been announced! With Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Commissioner
Dino Winwood taking an indefinite leave of absence due to medical complications (his tolerance of lactose, or lack thereof) a shady and mysterious Board of Directors have wrested control from both Commissioner's offices, and are now the sole governing body in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla! Their first official act in control of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla is to name
Scott Lost and
Joey Ryan, The Dynasty, as the first competitors in this year's
DDT4 tournament. After the events that transpired at the end of
One Hundred on Sunday night between The Dynasty,
Chris Hero, "American Dragon"
Bryan Danielson, and "Intrepid Traveler"
Paul London it was plain to see that Scott and Joey were attempting to shift the balance of power in their favor, and now as the first tag team entered in
DDT4, they have the opportunity to do so!
