Indy Power Rankings for the Week of January 13th, 2014

1. Drew Gulak-In the closest vote in the history of the Indy Power Rankings, the CZW World Champion just barely edges out all the other contenders for the #1 spot this week. After a #6 ranking last week, Gulak defended his title vs. Cage of Death lone survivor, Lucky tHURTeen. Gulak came out on top. He then took on Christina Von Eerie at the Beyond Wrestling tapings where he was victorious once again. This is his first #1 ranking since September 23rd, 2013.

2. Ricochet-With HUGE wins over Chris Hero and FIP World Champion Trent Barreta at EVOLVE over the weekend, it appeared that Ricochet would be a sure thing for #1. His subsequent tag team loss to Trent Barreta & Anthony Nese may have been a determining factor that kept him away from the #1 spot this week. While the tag team rankings are a separate thing all together, losses can always influence voters. One thing is for sure, Ricochet has returned to the U.S. with gold on his mind. Could a #1 spot be next?

3. Shane Hollister-After a week off, the AAW Heavyweight Champion returns to the top 10, just one spot lower than where he left off. He went into the SCW Prestige Rumble on 1/11 and came out victorious. He is now the #1 contender to the SCW Heavyweight Title, held by a familiar foe in Matt Cage. With many huge matches in the near future, “The Shug” continues to make his push for his first ever #1 ranking.

4. Michael Elgin-It’s almost like clockwork how often “Unbreakable” Michael Elgin gets ranked, but he’s a work horse and that’s what work horses do. On 1/10 he went to St. Louis Anarchy where he defeated Jojo Bravo. He then travelled to West Virginia for ASW where he beat Davey Richards in what may be their last singles encounter on the indies. It was, perhaps, his loss (where he was pinned) in an 8 man tag later int he night that may have cost him the #1 ranking once again this week. He’ll bounce back. He always does.

5. Arik Royal-2 weeks ago the CWF Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion was sitting at #7 in the Indy Power Rankings. This week he moves up to #5 after yet another successful defense of his title, this time vs. Manny Garcia. Royal has held that title since 2011 and doesn’t look to give it up any time soon.

6. Biff Busick-A man who vowed to grab a #1 ranking this year, gets ranked for the first time this week after he got his win back vs. Chris Dickinson at CZW and then picked up another victory over Pinkie Sanchez at the Beyond Wrestling tapings to go 2-0 on the weekend. “The Manliest Man” has some work to do to get that elusive #1 ranking, but he’s up for the challenge.

7. Shane Marvel-The IWE Maine Champion was absolutely DOMINANT over the weekend as he mowed through not 1, not 2, but 3 challengers on his way to his first ever ranking. His biggest defense was against someone that we all know in Justin Credible. Now the question is, can Marvel duplicate this type of success and start to climb the Indy Power Rankings ladder?

8. Jason Kincaid-Last week’s #7 falls one spot due to heavy competition. He did pick up a win vs. John Wayne Murdoch at NWA SAW, but his double countout vs. Lance Erikson may have cost him a higher ranking this week. He’s one to look out for as this is his second week straight in the top 10 (one of only 2 people in this week’s top 10 to accomplish that this week).

9. BJ Whitmer-After returning from what appeared to be a career ending neck injury, Whitmer has come back with a vengeance. He was already 2-0 in tag team competition, but improved his record to 3-0 overall after a victory over Jonathan Gresham at IWA Mid-South on 1/11. His new allegiance with Jimmy Jacobs and Roderick Strong could lead him to gold in 2014 and even more top 10 rankings.

10. Christian Rose-The DREAMWAVE Champion travelled to Clarksville, IN on 1/11 where he competed in a first time encounter vs. B-Boy...and came out on top. After a victory last week as well, he has gotten momentum on his side in preparation for his historic encounter with AJ Styles on February 1st at DREAMWAVE.

1st Honorable Mention. Devon Moore-The NEW CZW Wired TV Champion after beating Alex Colon

2nd Honorable Mention. AR Fox-Retained the EVOLVE Title vs. Davey Richards on 1/10

Tag Team Top 5 for the Week of January 13th, 2014

Postby PhenomenalTLD » Wed Jan 15, 2014 3:12 am

Tag Team Top 5 for the Week of January 13th, 2014

1. OI4K (Dave & Jake Crist)-They return from Japan with a #1 ranking! 2 big wins this week get them to the #1 spot in just the 3rd week of the Tag Team Top 5. On 1/10 at Rockstar Pro, they defeated Wrestling’s Horror Story (Fallen & Draven) and Alex Colon & Nate Wings in a 3 Way Tag Team Match. They then went to CZW where they defeated Juicy Product (and damn near killed JT Dunn). With the way 2014 has started, if they say Ohio is For Killers, you should believe it.

2. Michael Hayes & Mohamad Ali Vaez-The OVW Southern Tag Team drop one spot from last week, but the way it looks, they’re going to be sticking around the Top 5 for a long time to come. This week they retained the OVW Southern Tag Team Titles vs. Bud Dwight & Dylan Bostic on 1/8 at the OVW TV Tapings. Time will tell if they can climb back into the #1 spot once again.

3. Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson)-The PWG, IWGP Junior, and HOG Tag Team Champions brought the Super Kick party to EVOLVE in Florida over the weekend where they defeated The Bravado Brothers & Johnny Gargano (teaming with Rich Swann) in a 6 Man Tag on 1/10 and then followed that up with a big victory over Chuck Taylor & Rich Swann on 1/11. We’re 3 weeks in and they have yet to be ranked #1 yet. Unlikely that this will continue for very long.

4. The Hooligans (Devin & Mason Cutter)-The SNPW, SLA, and Zero-1 USA Tag Team Champions dominated the weekend with two big wins vs. Da House Party at SNPW and Two Star Heroes at SLA. This was the first weekend in action in 2014 for the Cutter Brothers. Time will tell if they can reach the elusive #1 spot in the very near future.

5. The Beaver Boys (Alex Reynolds & John Silver)-On 1/11 they cashed in their #1 contendership with a CZW World Tag Team Title victory vs.BLK Out. This tag team has been tearing it up all over the East Coast. Had they not lost to The Best Around last week at OPW, they’d likely be in heavy contention for the #1 spot this week.

1st Honorable Mention. Rage and the Machine (Michael McAllister & The Mecha Mercenary)-The NEW CWF Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champions after defeating Kamakazi Kid & Lee Valiant on 1/11

Indy Power Rankings for the week of January 20th, 2014

Postby PhenomenalTLD » Tue Jan 21, 2014 4:03 am

Indy Power Rankings for the Week of January 20th, 2014

1. Shane Hollister-Just call the AAW Heavyweight Champion “the model of consistency” so far in 2014. He has yet to lose a match, while also winning back the AAW Heavyweight title. Last week he was #3, this week he grabs his first ever #1 ranking after beating Mallaki Matthews at MVW in Donahue, IA. You can also call “The Shug”, “the sole survivor” as he was the only member of last week’s top 10 to remain unbeaten, but to also pick up a big win. With a title defense looming vs. Jimmy Jacobs on 1/24, look for him to not only battle to keep his title, but the #1 ranking as well.

2. Corey Hollis-Country Jacked cruises into the Indy Power Rankings this week! Corey Hollis teamed with Adam Page for tag team victories on 1/17 and 1/19, but it was his win vs. Davey Richards on 1/18 at PWX that helped secure his spot in the top 10 this week. While Hollis may have come up short in the ROH Top Prospect Tournament, when it comes to the Indy Power Rankings, he stands tall near the top of the heap with a 3-0 weekend.

3. Adam Page- See Corey Hollis. No, seriously, they had almost identical weekends. It’s the first ever ranking for this young ROH star. With that being said, it wasn’t his ROH win-loss record that got him in this week, it was his work elsewhere this weekend. He scored a big tag team win on 1/17 as he pinned the PWX Champion Caleb Konley in a tag team match, then flew to Wrestling Cares and defeated Adam Pearce, and finally flew back to PWX where he won a 4 Way Tag Team Match. Certainly he’ll be in consideration for #1 in the Tag Team Top 5 this week as well, but for now, he secures a VERY high ranking in the top 10 with a 3-0 weekend.

4. Johnny Gargano-The DGUSA Open the Freedom Gate Champion started out 2014 a little slow after being a 5 time #1 last year, but over the last 2 weeks he has beaten 2 of the top singles wrestlers in the world. Last week it was Uhaa Nation (to retain the title he’s held for 800+ days). This week he went to Wrestling Cares where he won the Race for the Ring Tournament, defeating his new rival and ROH World Champion, Adam Cole in the finals. Now Johnny Gargano has a huge ring to show off around Cleveland...and a #4 ranking this week to go with it.

5. Drake Younger-“The Ultra Violent Golden Boy” scores his first ranking of the year after successfully defending his PWB TV Title vs. Joey Ryan at Fighting Spirit Pro on 1/18. On 1/19 he went after the SPW Heavyweight Title vs. Sal Thomaselli and came out on top. Drake added a little more gold to his collection this week as Drake Younger continues to pile up wins all over the West Coast. Could the PWG World Title be in his sights next?

6. AJ Styles-“The Phenomenal One” recently returned to the indies and since that time his record has been unblemished. First, he defeated Roderick Strong at ROH a couple of weeks ago, then he went to MAGNUM Wrestling and defeated Jaysin Strife in a hard fought battle on 1/17. Finally, he made his “Phenomenal Debut” at PWX, knocking off Cedric Alexander (and being the first person to do so in the Dream Match Series) to run his record to 3-0 since his return.

7. Matt Cage-The SCW Heavyweight Champion proved to be “Money” once again as he went 2-0 over the weekend as he defeated Stevie Fierce on 1/17 and then picked up a tag team victory with Stevie Fierce on 1/18 vs. Christian Rose (last week’s #10) and Rob Matter at MVW.

8. RJ Ruiz-This upcoming prospect entered himself into the EWF Inland Title Tournament 8 on 1/17, won 3 matches in one night vs. Juan Roman, Joey Barone, and B-Boy to win the tournament. With EWF running more frequently and RJ Ruiz really starting to establish himself, he’s a name you’ll want to look out for again in the very near future.

9. Benjamin Kimera-Since the IPR 100 was compiled, the former Rockstar Pro Champion (and former 2 time #1 in the Indy Power Rankings) has been on a mission. He has been 4-0-1 since the list was put together and this week, he gets his name back into the top 10 after a 6 man tag team victory vs. Lil C, Draven, and Granger. He’s looking to continue this success to move up into the top spot for a 3rd time and the first in 2014.

10. Green Ant-2 victories over the weekend at Wrestling is Fun! and Wrestling is Respect earn this former “Resilient Rookie” a spot in the top 10 once again. On 1/18/14 at WIF! he tagged with Fire Ant to defeat The Spectral Envoy (Blind Rage & Hallowicked). He followed that up with a victory over last week’s #1 Drew Gulak in a 30 Minute Iron Man Match at WIR. Look out for this very technical ant to continue to rise if he keeps this up.

1st Honorable Mention. Zack Sabre Jr.-3-1 weekend with wins over Chris Hero, Kazuki Hashimoto, and Big Van Walter

2nd Honorable Mention. David Starr-Won the XWA Xtreme Rumble on 1/18

3rd Honorable Mention. Hype Gotti-MAGNUM Wrestling Champion won 2 matches in 2 states...in 1 day

Tag Team Top 5 for the Week of January 20th, 2014

Postby PhenomenalTLD » Wed Jan 22, 2014 3:23 am

Tag Team Top 5 for the Week of January 20th, 2014

1. Country Jacked (Corey Hollis & Adam Page)-What a weekend for Country Jacked! Not only were both members of this tag team ranked in the Indy Power Rankings top 10, as a unit they grab the #1 spot in the Tag Team Top 5. With wins vs. Cedric Alexander & Caleb Konley on 1/17 and a 4 Way Tag Team victory over Chase Brown & Kyle Matthews, Drew Myers & Shaun Tempers, and Lance Lude & Zane Riley. They’ve made it clear both inside and outside the ring that PWX is theirs for the taking.

2. Iron Godz (Rob Conway & Jax Dane)-The NWA World Tag Team Champions return to the Indy Power Rankings after a brief hiatus. This week they put their titles on the line at NWA BOW and retained vs. former WWE/ROH World Tag Team Champions Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas. With the title defenses racking up the question looms, when will they grab their first #1 ranking?

3. Da Soul Touchaz (Acid Jaz & Willie Richardson)-At RPW Vulgar Display of Power, this Midwest Tag Team did double duty as they retained the RPW Tag Team Titles vs. Lock Up (Aaron Epic & Suge D), only to be thrust into another title match where they retained once again vs. The Painkillers. They’ve been on the rise and hit the top 5 for the first time in its 4 week history.

4. Oliver John & Timothy Thatcher-On 1/18 this West Coast tag team defeated Joey Ryan & Rocky Romero to win the WCA Golden State Tag Team Titles in the finals of the tournament. Unfortunately, their scheduled opponents the Forever Hooligans were a man down, thus the Joey Ryan replacement. Surely another John/Thatcher vs. Forever Hooligans battle is on the horizon in 2014.

5. Team IOU (Kerry Awful & Nick Iggy)-The last several weeks this insane tag team has come within a vote or two of hitting the top 5. This week they finally cash it in on the strength of their HUGE victory over The Hooligans at CCW on 1/18. While they did lose in a Tag Team 3 Way on 1/17 at RPW (without getting pinned), they also defeated the Unlucky Charms at a benefit show in Nashville, TN on 1/19.

1st Honorable Mention. Baltic Siege (The Estonian Thunderfrog & Latvian Proud Oak)-Big weekend with wins at WIF! and WIR

Indy Power Rankings for the Week of January 27th, 2014

Postby PhenomenalTLD » Tue Jan 28, 2014 4:22 am

Indy Power Rankings for the Week of January 27th, 2014

1. Shane Hollister-The AAW Heavyweight Champion lands at #1 for the 2nd straight week after retaining his title vs. Jimmy Jacobs in yet another war for “The Shug.” After never quite reaching the #1 spot in 2013, Hollister has now hit this mark in consecutive weeks, a feat that hasn’t happened very frequently in the history of the Indy Power Rankings.

2. Matt Cage-Anyone who tries to argue that Matt Cage isn’t “Money” at this point is blind to what he’s been doing lately. Continuing his trend of recent victories, he retained his AAW Heritage Title vs. ACH on 1/24 and then picked up a victory over Black Baron at the Beyond Tapings in Atlanta on 1/26. Cage has been absolutely dominant in 2014 so far. Could another #1 ranking be on the horizon for the SCW Champ?

3. Johnny Gargano-After being highly ranked last week, the DGUSA Open the Freedom Gate Champion built on his impressive 2014 with a win vs. Michael Elgin at Smash Wrestling on 1/25 to avenge his loss at The Battle of Los Angeles. “The Whole Shebang” has been beating some of the best competitors on the indies in one on one competition. A #1 ranking is inevitable.

4. Drake Younger-“The Ultra Violent Golden Boy” continued his hot streak over the weekend as he picked up a big tag team victory over Brian Cage & Tyler Bateman at AWS while teaming with Willie Mack. While it wasn’t as busy as most weekends for the former Midwest star, he’s continuing his climb to potentially his first #1 ranking.

5. Kevin Tibbs-This may not be a familiar name for avid followers of the Indy Power Rankings, but he had a very strong weekend and launched himself right up the top 10 with 3 wins and a victory in the VPW King of New York Tournament. In the first round he defeated Jorge Santi, before moving on to defeat EJ Risk, and then finally he defeated The Amazing Red in the finals. Look for his name to pop up again in the near future if he can continue this type of run.

6. Benjamin Kimera-The former Rockstar Pro Champion did what he always does this week…win. On 1/22 at Rockstar Pro’s Amped Taping, he won a 12 man tag team match as he teamed with Andy Stryker, Dave Crist, Bruce Grey, Jon Murray & Capt. James to defeat Michael, Jim Hutchinson, Tom McClane, Draven, Fallen & Zak Spades. Despite losing his cool, Kimera moves up a spot in the rankings once again.

7. Chris Hero-Amazingly, despite a ton of fan support, this is Chris Hero’s first time ranked in the Indy Power Rankings. He’s had some fantastic matches since his return to the indies, but his win-loss record in terms of statistics, has not been up to par. That all changed over the weekend as he pinned World Champion Adam Cole in ROH’s big 3 way tag match at Wrestling’s Finest on 1/25. He then became the first man to defeat AJ Styles since his return to the indies as Hero came out victorious at Smash Wrestling on 1/26. More wins like this and Hero will be enjoying a #1 ranking very soon.

8. Amber O’Neal-This blonde haired beauty has put together quite the impressive 2 week run for herself. At PWX last weekend she picked up 2 big wins. This week she defeated La Rosa Negra at SHINE 16 to continue the winning streak. With 3 straight wins, she climbs into the Indy Power Rankings for the first time. Can we expect more of the same from her in the upcoming weeks?

9. Matt Cross.-“M Dogg” has been tearing it up lately all over the place. This weekend he defeated ACH, Kyle O’Reilly, and Scotty O’Shea at Smash Wrestling’s Any Given Sunday on 1/26. His record is completely unblemished at Smash Wrestling and with more huge shows coming up in 2014, he’ll have plenty of chances to climb the Indy Power Rankings ladder.

10. Marcus Anthony-Look up dominance in the dictionary and you might just find a picture of Marcus Anthony. This huge athlete has taken OVW by storm recently, going as far as to defeat Jamin Olivencia for the OVW Heavyweight Title. If you look through his match history (2 wins this week by the way), he is unstoppable. DQ losses are the only way to beat him, apparently. Will this force to be reckoned with do what Jamin did and grab a #1 spot soon? He’ll have to keep his temper in check and avoid DQ losses in order to do so.

1st Honorable Mention. Ryan Howe-While his pro wrestling career may have started out in a very ridiculous manner, his record as of late has been no joke. He has yet to lose in 2014, including defeating Jay Bradley in a huge contest. With 2 more wins this week at OVW, the question is starting to linger…who can beat this young up and comer?

2nd Honorable Mention. B-Boy-Retained the AWS Heavyweight Title vs. Ricky Mandel on 1/25.

3rd Honorable Mention. Lance Lude-3-1 over the last 2 weeks. Defeated RGL Champ Chet Sterling (non-title) at CWF Mid-Atlantic on 1/25.

Indy Power Rankings for the Week of February 3rd, 2014

Postby PhenomenalTLD » Tue Feb 04, 2014 4:04 am

Indy Power Rankings for the Week of February 3rd, 2014

1. Matt Cage-It was another split vote this week for Indy Power Rankings voters, but in the end, “Money” Matt Cage barely grabs the #1 spot. It was his overall body of work in 2014 that helped earn him the top spot this week. He did, however, grab yet another victory this week as he defeated Mallaki Matthews at DREAMWAVE Season Premiere on 2/1. The SCW Heavyweight and AAW Heritage Champion has made 2014 absolutely “Money” on his way to his 2nd ever #1 ranking and his first this year.

2. Michael Elgin-Unranked last week, but #2 this week and why? Because “Unbreakable” lived up to his nickname by defeating the back to back #1 in Shane Hollister in a brutal battle at DREAMWAVE Season Premiere on 2/1. He came within inches of becoming the #1 this week, but ultimately didn’t quite have the votes, possibly due to his tag team loss in PWG’s DDT4 tournament. The Unbreakable F’N Machines did make the semi-finals in a good effort though. 2014, much like 2013, has seen a refocused Elgin dominate as he continues to show what “Elgin Mode” is all about.

3. Marcus Anthony-After being ranked #10 last week, the OVW Heavyweight Champion tore through the competition this week on the way to his highest ranking yet. He defeated ½ of the OVW Southern Tag Team Champions in Mohamed Ali Vaez on 1/29 and then followed that up with another victory over Johnny Spade on 2/1. He is on a path of destruction right now and it looks like he won’t stop until he reaches #1!

4. Chase Owens-The first ranking of 2014 for Chase Owens is a high one as he had a successful title defense vs. Lt. Falk on 1/31 at NWA SAW. Not one to rest on his laurels, he defeated Jason Kincaid in a NWA World Junior Heavyweight Title #1 Contendership TLC Match on 2/1 at NWA Smoky Mountain. “The Real Deal” is proving that collecting titles is something he’s an expert at.

5. Colt Cabana-“Boom Boom” is possibly the greatest ambassador to independent wrestling that the sport has ever known…and this week he gets ranked in the Indy Power Rankings once again. He had a much anticipated Best 2 out of 3 Falls match at National Pro Wrestling Day with former #1 in the IPR Drew Gulak, from which he emerged victorious. This independent star has been in and out of the Indy Power Rankings in 2014, but he has yet to reach the #1 spot. Can he maintain some consistency and accomplish yet another goal on the indies?

6. Ryan Howe-Say what you want about Ryan Howe and the auspicious start to his career at Tough Enough…but what you have to admit is that recently…he flat out wins. He is on a meteoric rise at OVW right now, winning something in the range of 10 or 11 straight at this point. This week he defeated Jay Bradley once again in a Submission Match at OVW Saturday Night Special. Time will tell if he can continue this white hot win streak he’s on.

7. Dave Crist-1/2 of Ohio is for Killers (OI4K) gets in this week after two more big wins. On 1/29 at Rockstar Pro, he defeated Kyle Maverick, Austin Bradley, and Trice in a 4 Way, before traveling to Clarksville, IN where he teamed with Apollo & Jake Crist to defeat Kyle Maverick, Austin Bradley, & Gabriel Gray. While he may be most known for tag team wrestling (a former #1 in the Tag Team Top 5 in fact), he is also tearing it up in singles in 2014.

8. Tony Sly-While Tony Sly may not be someone that everyone is familiar with, he is starting to become a force to be reckoned with. Over the weekend he picked up one of his bigger wins as he defeated Gage Octane for the 3XW Heavyweight Championship in Des Moines, Iowa. Call him what you want as he looks down upon you for eating Cheetos and drinking Mountain Dew, but you better call him a champion. He won’t give you any other choice.

9. B-Boy-“The New Age Punisher” hits the top 10 for the first time in 2014. He’s come very close, but strangely had not quite made it yet. This week he gets in after a tag team victory with Willie Mack vs. The RockNES Monsters at QPW on 2/1. His recent winning streak has been quite impressive on the West Coast. Can he bring that same type of success back to the Midwest again?

10. Dasher Hatfield-In what many would consider the biggest upset of the weekend, “The Old Timey King of Swing” defeated the first (and last?) CHIKARA Grand Champion Eddie Kingston at National Pro Wrestling Day 2014. It was a huge victory for Hatfield, which spring boarded him into the top 10 for the very first time.

1st Honorable Mention. Kevin Steen-Defeated Chris Hero at QPW, reached the DDT4 Semi-Finals.

2nd Honorable Mention. Green Ant-Won a HUGE 10 Man Tag Team Match at NPWD ’14.

3rd Honorable Mention. Drake Younger-Defeated Chris Hero, Kyle O’Reilly, and Johnny Gargano in a 4 Way at PWG, but fell to Adam Thornstowe at QPW.

Tag Team Top 5 for the Week of February 3rd, 2014

Postby PhenomenalTLD » Wed Feb 05, 2014 3:15 am

Tag Team Top 5 for the Week of February 3rd, 2014

1. Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent ?)-6-0 as a team. Let that sink in. Over the weekend they won perhaps the most prestigious tag team tournament in North America as they outlasted 7 other teams to win PWG’s DDT4 2014. 3 wins in one night vs. The RockNES Monsters, Adam Cole & Kevin Steen, and The Inner City Machine Guns EARNED them the UNANIMOUS #1 ranking this week. Perhaps a PWG World Tag Team Title run is on the horizon for this undefeated tag team.

2. Michael Hayes & Mohamad Ali Vaez-For the second straight week, the OVW Southern Tag Team Champions are #2 in the Indy Power Rankings. This week they defeated Mobile Homers (Adam Revolver & Ted McNaler) to not only retain their titles, but to run Ted McNaler right out of OVW. They STILL have not lost a match as a team since December 7th, 2013.

3. Black Hand Warriors (Michael Magnuson & David Delorean)-This week the WLW Tag Team Champions added another set of tag team titles to their trophy case as they defeated The Bum Rush Brothers for the Dynamo Pro Tag Team Titles. This is the first ranking in the top 5 for the double champions and with them collecting gold at a frantic pace, it’s likely it won’t be their last. Check them out on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/BlackHandWarriors

4. OI4K (Jake & Dave Crist)-It was another successful week for the former #1 in the Tag Team Top 5 as they teamed with Apollo at D1W to defeat Kyle Maverick, Austin Bradley, & Gabriel Gray in 6 man tag team competition. With two big Rockstar Pro shows coming up this week, this could be their chance to recapture the #1 ranking.

5. Inner City Machine Guns (Rich Swann & Ricochet)-While they may not have the greatest win-loss record as a team, they have never failed to impress. This weekend they got to the finals of DDT4 before ultimately falling to Best Friends in the finals. A 2-1 night in PWG is nothing to be ashamed of, and in fact, it gets them into the Top 5 for the very first time. Their victories were vs. ACH & AR Fox and The Unbreakable F’N Machines.

1st Honorable Mention. Helter Skelter (Alex Castle & Markus Crane)-Retained the DWW titles at DREAMWAVE Season Premiere in a big 4 Way Match.

Postby PhenomenalTLD » Tue Feb 11, 2014 4:49 am

Indy Power Rankings for the Week of February 10th, 2014

1. Matt Cage-It was another spirited debate this week for Indy Power Rankings voters, but when all was said and done, “Money” Matt Cage once again grabs the #1 spot. This was his 2nd straight week at #1 and much like last week, it was his overall body of work in 2014 that helped earn him the top spot this week. A victory vs. Gunner Franks at SCW on 2/8 and vs. Mallaki Matthews once again at Beyond Wrestling’s St. Louis tapings on 2/9 helps get him to the pinnacle of the IPR. The SCW Heavyweight and AAW Heritage Champion continues to make 2014 “Money” as he continues to put himself right at the top of the pack with victories everywhere he goes.

2. Christian Rose-In a vacuum, Christian Rose had arguably the BEST week for a one week span this week. He went 4-0 and only worked 2 shows! This “Bitter Lunatic” took his anger to IWA Mid-South for back-to-back shows where he teamed with Gary Jay & Jordynne Grace to defeat Chris Hero, Davey Vega, and Angelus Layne. Later in the day, he took on Danny Cannon in an insane contest that saw Rose score the victory with the Lion Tamer. The following day he travelled to St. Louis for Beyond Wrestling’s Tapings where he knocked off both Alex Castle & Mikey McFinnigan with the Lion Tamer. The DREAMWAVE Champion will inevitably score his 2nd ever #1 ranking if he can keep up this momentum.

3. Ricochet-On most weeks, a 4-0 weekend at Dragon Gate in Japan would put a wrestler of Ricochet’s stature at #1, easily, but this week was far more competitive than most weeks. While he’s not eligible for the Tag Team Top 5 due to his partners not competing in the U.S., Canada, or the UK in 2014, he did manage to win 4 tag team matches this week. “The Future of Flight” and former #1 in the Indy Power Rankings can certainly continue to win at Dragon Gate and if he does, it will be damn near impossible to keep him away from the #1 spot.

4. Kevin Steen-The former ROH World Champion and 5 time former #1 in the Indy Power Rankings makes his first appearance in the Indy Power Rankings in 2014 this week. While it may seem insane that a wrestler like Steen hasn’t been ranked this year, it hasn’t been your typical dominant Kevin Steen year…until now. On 2/7 he went to AIW where he defeated “All Ego” Ethan Page. He then went to ROH on 2/9 and won a HUGE 4 Way Contest for a future ROH World Title shot over last week’s #2 (and last year’s #1 in the IPR 100) Michael Elgin, Jay Lethal, and ROH TV Champion Tommaso Ciampa. Could we see Steen return to the #1 spot again? Some gold would help make the case.

5. Marcus Anthony-The OVW Heavyweight Champion drops just two spots this week but it wasn’t due to lack of activity this week. He managed to defeat Eddie Diamond on 2/5 AND 2/9 to continue his dominant winning streak. He’s another wrestler that flat out refuses to lose (except for by DQ when the circumstances dictate). Certainly on a slower week, he would have been a clear choice for #1, but for now he’ll have to settle for #4. More motivation for this monster…as if he needs it.

6. Ron Mathis-It was a great week for ½ of the D1W Tag Team Champions as he went 3-0 (after 2 victories last week) to make it 5 wins over the last 2 weeks. On 2/5 at Rockstar Pro he defeated Ganger before returning to Rockstar Pro and scoring one of the biggest wins of his career vs. former ECW World Champion Rhino. He polished off the week with a win vs. Vance Desmond at Remix Pro. “Relentless” is a perfect moniker for this young star.

7. Reed Bentley-The EPW Elite & DWW Alternative Champion made waves this week by defeating Chris Hero at IWA Mid-South in a battle of the brutal forearms. It was Chris Hero’s old trick that cost him the match as Bentley defeated him with the loaded elbow pad. A rematch looms in March, but for now, Bentley will enjoy his success after a 2-0 weekend where he also won in tag action, teaming with Adam Gooch to defeat Frank Wyatt & Alex Castle. We can continue to expect big things from Reed “By God” Bentley in 2014.

8. Caleb Konley-The PWX Heavyweight Champion is a former #1 in the Indy Power Rankings, but just a little bit of gold isn’t enough for Konley. On 2/9 he challenged Cedric Alexander for the WrestleForce Title…and came out with a new title for his collection. It’s pretty obvious that Caleb Konley owns the Carolinas this point. Add to that, he defeated Pepper Parks at CZW on 2/8 as well. Can Konley continue to climb the IPR ladder and grab his 2nd ever #1 ranking? Time will tell.

9. Josh Crane-After impressive performances over the last few months, Josh Crane finally gets into the Top 10 after going 3-0 over the weekend. On 2/8 he competed twice for IWA Mid-South as he defeated both Trik Davis & Todd Morton on separate shows. He then went to Beyond Wrestling’s St. Louis Tapings where he teamed with Tripp Cassidy to grab another victory vs. Dale Patricks & Marcus Edwards. This kid has a bright future and this could be just a taste of what’s to come.

10. Gary Jay-The St. Louis Anarchy Champion has been toiling around in the Midwest for quite some time without the recognition he rightfully deserves. This week he gets just a bit of it as he scored a couple of big victories at IWA Mid-South. First he teamed with Christian Rose & Jordynne Grace to defeat Chris Hero, Angelus Layne, & Davey Vega. He then took on Davey Vega in a singles match later in the day and once again came out victorious in the opening contest. With a big title defense vs. Kyle O’Reilly upcoming, Gary Jay is hitting his stride at the perfect time.

1st Honorable Mention. Scrap Yard Dog-2-0 at FSPW and NEW Champion.

2nd Honorable Mention. Uhaa Nation-4-1 week at Dragon Gate in Japan.

3rd Honorable Mention. Chase Dakota-Was successful in his 9th CWF Mid-Atlantic TV Title defense.

Tag Team Top 5 for the Week of February 10th, 2014

Postby PhenomenalTLD » Wed Feb 12, 2014 3:53 am

Tag Team Top 5 for the Week of February 10th, 2014

1. Chicks Using Nasty Tactics (Annie Social & Kimber Lee)-If you feel like laughing or being offended, shorten their tag team name into initials. That being said this team is no joke. On 2/8 they teamed up to defeat Midwest Militia (Jessicka Havok & Sassy Stephie) for the WSU Tag Team Titles. They then defended and retained those same titles vs. Christina Von Eerie & Nevaeh. They become the first women ranked in the Tag Team Top 5 (Global Green Gangsters were ranked in the Indy Power Rankings Top10 in 2013 before TTT5 existed) on the strength of this dominant weekend.

2. PPRay (Peter Avalon & Ray Rosas)-After a first round exit from PWG’s DDT4 last week, this West Coast tag team refocused and came out with a strong weekend. On 2/7 at EWF they defeated B-Boy & Mondo Vega. They then defended their CWF Hollywood Heritage Tag Team Titles vs. The Family Stone and once again came out on top. Look for this type of success to continue with their busy schedule across various California promotions.

3. White America (Reed Bentley, Adam Gooch, & Trik Davis)-For the first time a 3 man group gets into the Tag Team Top 5 as a collective unit. Making the Fabulous Freebirds proud, this 3 man team went undefeated over the weekend at IWA Mid-South, both in singles, and tag team action. It was the tag team victories over Frank Wyatt & Alex Castle and Mean & Rotten (Mitch Page & Ian Rotten) that pushed them into the Top 5 this week. They came in 2nd in the online poll this week.

4. BULLET CLUB (Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows)-The IWGP Tag Team Champions continued their success this week as they won a 6 man tag on 2/4 and then retained their titles vs. Killer Elite Squad (Lance Hoyt & DH Smith) on 2/9. The former #1 in the Indy Power Rankings are continuing their path to their first #1 in the Tag Team Top 5. It will take more weeks like this to accomplish that goal!

5. The Front (Ace Delic & Niles Sozio)-It was one HUGE win that gave the front their top 5 ranking this week. Their victory vs. Juicy Product (David Starr & JT Dunn), OI4K (Jake & Dave Crist), and Nation of Intoxication in a 4 Way at CZW on 2/8. That victory fueled their first ever ranking as a team and if they can win the CZW Tag Team Titles, it clearly won’t be their last.

1st Honorable Mention. Beaver Boys (John Silver & Alex Reynolds)-Retained the CZW titles at CZW’s 15th Anniversary Show vs. Murderers’ Row

2nd Honorable Mention. Team IOU (Nick Iggy & Kerry Awful)-2-1 weekend with the 2 wins in straight up tags while the loss was a 6 man tag. They were EASILY #1 in the new online poll this week.

Indy Power Rankings for the Week of February 17th, 2014

Postby PhenomenalTLD » Tue Feb 18, 2014 4:43 am

Indy Power Rankings for the Week of February 17th, 2014

1. Christian Rose-The DREAMWAVE Champion extended his 2 week record to 6-0 after 2 more victories this week. While his numbers in the online poll weren’t huge, the official voters came through for him. A victory over Krotch at a little show in Donahue, IA and a victory over 1/3 of the #3 ranked White America-Adam Gooch at SNPW helps Rose get his 2nd ever #1 ranking. Interestingly enough, that’s 5 straight weeks at #1 for Matt Cage, Christian Rose, and Shane Hollister…3 men who are ultimately tied together based on their region and travel. He came in 4th on the online poll.

2. JT Dunn-Much like Christian Rose last week, “The Juice” had quite possibly the best single week of anyone in the Top 10. With victories over last week’s #1 Matt Cage, last week’s Tag Team #1 Kimber Lee (in a 3 out of 5 falls match), and then a tag team victory over The Hooligans (all at Beyond Wrestling), it was a week to remember for the young star. Not only that, his dream match was signed as he will take on Chris Hero next month. You can call him “The People’s Champ” this week after dominating the online poll for 1st place after more than 50 votes. Perhaps #1 is in his near future?

3. Ricochet-You would think 7-0 over the span of 2 weeks would earn Ricochet an EASY #1 ranking, but again, we had heavy competition this week among the voters. Not only that, before the online poll took place, he was slotted at #2 before the heavy support for JT Dunn knocked him down one spot. While his 7 wins at Dragon Gate were impressive, it may have been the lack of singles victories that kept him from the top spot this week. #5 in the online poll.

4. Uhaa Nation-Much like Ricochet, “The One Man Nation” was dominant over the last 2 weeks at Dragon Gate in Japan. A 7-1 record jumps Uhaa right into the Top 10 after a 2-0 record this week. Unlike Ricochet, he did have a singles win recently to support his case for a top spot. The fans in the online poll, however, were not convinced of the big man’s dominance. He came in 9th in the online poll.

5. Drew Gulak-After suffering a string of losses, this week was the week that the CZW World Champion shined as he defeated John Silver, Alex Reynolds, and Papadon in a 4 Way Iron Man Match at NYWC and then followed that up with a HUGE submission victory over Kevin Steen at Beyond Wrestling. Perhaps more than anyone, he was a benefactor of the new online poll. The former #1 in the Indy Power Rankings came in 2nd in the poll.

6. Michael Elgin-2 big wins for a guy like Michael Elgin, last year’s #1 in the IPR 100, and multiple time #1 in the Indy Power Rankings would usually land him at #1. Once again, much like last week, this was not your typical week. This week he managed to defeat Shynron and Chris Dickinson & Jaka (by DQ) at Beyond Wrestling to secure a spot in the Top 10. He came in 7th in the online poll.

7. Caleb Konley-The PWX Heavyweight/WrestleForce Champion and former #1 in the Indy Power Rankings attempted to add more title to his collection vs. Matt Hardy over the weekend. While he did retain the PWX Title vs. Cedric Alexander, he came up short in his bid for the WrestleCade title due to interference. He finished the weekend at 1-0-1 but most importantly, he’s still a double champion. He came in 8th in the online voting.

8. Jake Dirden-The fans & supporters of the Dynamo Pro Champion would not let him be denied this week. While he was close to be on the outside looking in on the official voters’ polls, the online poll pushed him up to the #8 spot this week. Dirden, a man who rarely loses, this week picked up a tag team victory at SICW but it was his overall body of work that got him noticed and ranked. He came in 3rd in the online poll with close to 40 votes.

9. Will White/Bill Black-Give credit to one of the strangest gimmicks to ever come down the wrestling pike…it earned him the Squared Circle Live Adrenaline Cup for 2014. After 2 big victories in 4 Way Matches, this enigma of gimmicks earned himself a ranking. It was an impressive showing for this interesting character. He came in 10th in the online poll.

10. Arik Royal-The CWF Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion now holds the record for longest reigning champion in that promotion of all time. He earned that distinction with a victory over former champion Corey Edsel. Royal, a former #1 in the Indy Power Rankings, has held that title since 12/29/12! He came in 6th in the online poll.

1st Honorable Mention. James Anthony-2-0 and NEW AIWF Cruiserweight Champion.

Tag Team Top 5 for the Week of February 17th, 2014

Postby PhenomenalTLD » Wed Feb 19, 2014 3:21 am

Tag Team Top 5 for the Week of February 17th, 2014

1. Los Ben Dejos (Eddie Rios & Jay Cruz)-The NEW PWX Tag Team Champions had one hell of a weekend. After winning the Tag Team Titles in a Three on Two Handicap Match vs. The Worst Case Scenario & Tommy Thomas. They then defeated The Worst Case Scenario again in straight up tag team competition to retain the titles. These Dudleyville trainees are on fire right now with their first ever #1 ranking. 3rd in the online poll.

2. Team IOU (Kerry Awful & Nick Iggy)-After winning the online poll and getting an honorable mention last week, they took that momentum down to NWA SAW in Millersville, TN where they defeated Mayhem to win the Southern Tag Team Titles. They are 3-1 overall the last 2 weeks and 3-0 in straight up tag team matches. With shows as a team almost every single week, it’s going to be impossible to keep them out of the #1 spot for much longer. 1st in the online poll for the 2nd straight week.

3. PPRay (Peter Avalon & Ray Rosas)-After being ranked #2 last week, they fall slightly to the #3 spot after teaming with Joey Ryan to win a 6 Man Tag Team Match vs. The Fallen Empire & Cedric the Hitman at AWS. They continue to dominate most California indies and so the question remains, can they move that success over to PWG as well? A #1 ranking could be on the horizon in 2014 for this young tag team.

4. Country Jacked (Adam Page & Corey Hollis)-The former #1 in the Tag Team Top 5 teamed up once again this week to defeat “Eddie and The Edwards” (Roderick Strong & Trent ?) in a big tag team match on IPPV. They are still undefeated as a tag team. Their inactivity as a team recently is likely the only thing that hurt their ranking this week.

5. The Hooligans (Devin & Mason Cutter)-What more can be said of these Bearded Bullies? They dominated 2013 and then struggled a bit in 2014, but that hasn’t slowed them down at all. With 7 matches over the last 2 weeks and a record of 4-3 overall (2-1 this week), they continue to be one of the most prominent tag teams in the U.S. Their only loss this week at Beyond Wrestling was vs. Juicy Product. #4 in the online poll.

1st Honorable Mention. Black Hand Warriors (Michael Magnuson & David Delorean)-Retained the WLW Tag Team Titles. 2nd in the online poll.

Indy Power Rankings for the Week of February 24th, 2014

1. Ricochet-“You can only keep a King down for so long.” Wise words from one of our official voters as the 2013 Dragon Gate King of Gate dominated another weekend and could not be denied this week by the voters. With a record of 10-0 on this Dragon Gate tour and a record of 3-0 this weekend, “The Future of Flight” proved that he was the present by getting his first #1 ranking of 2014. #3 in the online poll.

2. JT Dunn-Another week and another pair of victories for the NEFW U.S. Champion. First he teamed with girlfriend Shelly Martinez to score a win at RPW. The next night he put his title on the line and defeated AJ Cruise, Anthony Gangone, and David Cole to retain. This is his 2nd straight week at #2. When will “The Juice” grab his first #1 ranking? The fan support is certainly there. #4 in the online poll.

3. Johnny Gargano-The DGUSA Open the Freedom Gate Champion had perhaps the most impressive weekend by going 2-0 with successful title defenses vs. Trent ? & Roderick Strong. Gargano is a former 5 time #1 in the Indy Power Rankings and after a weekend like that, he’s looking to return to that spot in the very near future. #5 in the online poll.

4. Christian Rose-The DREAMWAVE Champion extended his 3 week record to 7-0 after a victory over Mason Beck at Funky Munky Wrestling. While he has yet to lose since being ranked #1, with everyone else having multiple matches this week, “The Bitter Lunatic” was a casualty of a busy weekend. He’ll have chances to get back into the #1 spot in the very near future. #10 in the online poll.

5. Caleb Konley-The former #1 in the Indy Power Rankings swept the weekend once again as he picked up to big wins at DGUSA. First he defeated international exotic star Yosuke Santa Maria. He followed that up with a submission victory over Tim Donst to polish off the weekend with a 2-0 record. The PWX and WrestleForce Champion has yet to reach #1 this year, but he is continuing to put together an impressive record. Certainly a #1 ranking can’t be far off. Did not make the Top 10 in the online poll.

6. Michael Elgin-Hard to believe that “Unbreakable” would drop 2 spots after an unblemished weekend, but this wasn’t your typical weekend. With so many people going 2-0, Elgin going 1-0-1 may have hurt his status this week. A victory over Raymond Rowe (a former #1) was very impressive, but the Time Limit Draw vs. AJ Styles probably influenced voters slightly. The AIW Absolute Champion is as active as anyone in the Top 10 and you can expect him to continue to be seen in the Indy Power Rankings for the rest of 2014. #7 in the online poll.

7. Tommaso Ciampa-The ROH TV Champion has been noticeably absent from the Top 10 for quite some time, but this week, he came through with two very impressive victories as he retained his title vs. Hanson on 2/21 and Jay Lethal on 2/22. “The Sicilian Psychopath” is on a path of destruction right now. He has yet to reach #1 and one would think that goal is a very distinct possibility from becoming a reality, especially with title defenses in the UK scheduled in the near future. Did not make the Top 10 in the online poll.

8. Jake Dirden-The Dynamo Pro Champion continued his consistent success over the weekend (and at DPW on 2/18) as he came away with 2 victories this week once again. He remains at #8 after proving yet again that he DOES NOT LOSE. Look it up. A No Contest? Maybe. A loss? Rare and almost unheard of. Did not make the Top 10 in the online poll.

9. Kevin Steen-After a slow start to 2014, the former ROH World Champion picked up the pace and now gets into the Indy Power Rankings after two victories over the weekend. First he defeated Cliff Compton in a Philadelphia Street Fight on 2/21. He then scored a DQ victory over Homicide on 2/22. Steen, a former 5 time #1, has some work to do if he wants to get back to the status he enjoyed in early 2013. #8 in the online poll.

10. Hercules Gomez-Not familiar with this name? Time to get familiar. He now OWNS the state of Florida after defeating Lince Dorado for the SCW Florida Heavyweight Title on 2/21 at BELIEVE 66 and then following that up on 2/22 at RIOT Pro Wrestling with a victory over RIOT Heavyweight Champion Rhett Giddins to become the undisputed Heavyweight Champion of Florida. He crushed the competition in the online poll with an easy #1 ranking by the fans.

1st Honorable Mention. James Anthony-The AIWF Cruiserweight Champion made another successful title defense vs. Chris Lea. 2nd in the online poll.

2nd Honorable Mention. Marcus Anthony-OVW Heavyweight Champ was 2-0 this week with wins vs. Robbie Walker and Eddie Diamond. Did not make the Top 10 in the online poll.

Tag Team Top 5 for the Week of February 24th, 2014

Postby PhenomenalTLD » Wed Feb 26, 2014 3:35 am

Image

Tag Team Top 5 for the Week of February 24th, 2014

1. The Decade (Roderick Strong, BJ Whitmer, and Jimmy Jacobs)-Since forming in ROH, they have been flawless in all forms of tag team matches. BJ Whitmer & Jimmy Jacobs are 2-0 as a team since reforming as a tag team and now, with Roderick Strong thrown into the equation, they are 2-0 in 6 man tag team competition, meaning they are 4-0 as a team, overall. This weekend they defeated Adam Page, Cedric Alexander, & Mark Briscoe, before moving on the next day to beat Adrenaline RUSH & Andrew Everett. Certainly some gold might be in this group’s near future. Unranked in the online poll.

2. reDRagon (Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish)-It’s crazy to think about the fact that this is the first ranking of 2014 for the ROH World Tag Team Champions, but it’s true. They were not very successful this year until this past weekend at ROH where they defeated both Adrenaline RUSH and the team of Brutal Burgers to go 2-0 on the weekend. They were favored to be in the Top 5 of the Tag Team Top 50 going into 2014. They’ve finally got some momentum to make that a reality. #4 in the online poll.

3. Black Hand Warriors (Michael Magnuson & David Delorean)-This week the Dynamo Pro Tag Team Champions defeated Jack Gamble & Jon Webb to retain their titles. They also hold the WLW Tag Team Titles, making them one of the very few teams in the U.S. to hold multiple promotions’ tag team titles. They have been as dominant as any team in the last couple of months. It will be interesting if they can continue this success throughout 2014. #3 in the online poll.

4. The Hooligans (Devin & Mason Cutter)-Another team that was favored to be in the Top 5 of the Tag Team Top 50 going into 2014 stumbled out of the gate when the year began, but now they’re starting to find their footing. Over the weekend they retained their PGP Tag Team Titles in a brutal war vs. Zero Gravity in a double dog collar match. With yet another battle coming up vs. Team IOU, time will tell if they can continue their climb up the rankings. #1 in the online poll.

5. Team IOU (Kerry Awful & Nick Iggy)-The NWA SAW Tag Team Champions retained their titles in their first defense vs. Shock N’ Awe on 2/21. They looked to add more gold to their collection as they took on Da Soul Touchaz the next night at Resistance Pro, but came up short in their bid to be double champions. They were #2 last week and despite the loss, the fans have spoken and they have said, quite frankly, “you just can’t keep a boy and his dog down.” #2 in the online poll.

1st Honorable Mention. Underdogs (John Greed & Sebastian Suave)-Defeated the Super Smash Brothers by disqualification at Smash Wrestling on 2/23. Unranked in the online poll.

2nd Honorable Mention. Arrogant Basterds (Ric Ellis & Devin Sparks)-NEW So Cal Pro Tag Team Champions after defeating Anchors Away for the titles on 2/21.

Indy Power Rankings for the Week of March 3rd, 2014

1. Ricochet-“I will never underestimate him again.” The words of one voter reflected thoughts of the many. Several people were sceptical about whether Ricochet could defeat Masato Yoshino for the Dragon Gate Open the Dream Gate Title on 3/2, but that’s exactly what he did. Not only that, he also won a 6 Man Tag Team Match at Dragon Gate on 3/1. With those 2 victories, Ricochet is a STAGGERING 12-0 on this tour of Dragon Gate in Japan. This is his 2nd straight #1 ranking. Next up: A title defense vs. Uhaa Nation. #2 in the online poll.

2. Johnny Gargano- As if over 800 days as the DGUSA Open the Freedom Gate Champion wasn’t enough, the former 5 time #1 in the Indy Power Rankings picked up impressive tag team victories at SLA and DREAMWAVE to move on to the Misfortune Lethal Lottery Battle Royal. Gargano, a relative newcomer to the promotion, came out on top with a huge win. He now has any match he wants in his pocket. He’ll have his chance to prove he should be #1 in April when he defends vs. Ricochet. #6 in the online poll.

3. JT Dunn-The #2 from the last 2 weeks drops just one spot due to very heavy competition this week. His win vs. Ricky Reyes at XWA on 3/1 improved his 3 week record to 6-0. The NEFW U.S. Champion has been on fire lately. In the not too distant future, he’ll get to prove he has what it takes to be the clear cut #1 when he takes on Chris Hero for Beyond Wrestling. #7 in the online poll.

4. Chris Masters-Whether he’s called “Chris Masters” or by his real name, there isn’t much in a name, because he absolutely DOMINATED the weekend. Record-wise, his weekend was better than almost anyone has been able to accomplish this year. He won 4 big matches at Preston City UK to win the Road to Glory Tournament as he ran through Cyanide, Joey Hayes, Chris Hero, and Dave Mastiff. He then went to Southside Wrestling in the UK where he defeated T-Bone to finish off the weekend. #5 in the online poll.

5. Michael Elgin-The Unbreakable AIW Absolute Champion has been hovering around the middle of the Indy Power Rankings for the last several weeks and this week was no different. Not counting the Misfortune Lethal Lottery Battle Royal at DREAMWAVE, Elgin was 2-0 this weekend with tag team victories vs. Kung Fu Manchu at AAW along with Alex Castle & Arik Cannon at DREAMWAVE. It was another dominant weekend as he once again went “Elgin Mode” on the competition. #8 in the online poll.

6. Caleb Konley-The PWX and WrestleForce Champion has been incredibly dominant lately. After two more wins in Quincy, MA and Oregon, no one can claim that he’s just a regional champion anymore. Konley has become a top national star. The former #1 in the Indy Power Rankings continues to rack up rankings, but the question remains, when will Konley grab the #1 once again? Unranked in the online poll.

7. Marcus Anthony-The OVW Heavyweight Champion gets back into the rankings after 2 more wins this week, including a HUGE successful title defense vs. former #1 Jamin Olivencia on 3/1. With 4 wins over the last 2 weeks and countless wins over the last few months, this beast of a man continues to show why he’s such a feared champion. Unranked in the online poll.

8. James Anthony-The AIWF Cruiserweight Champion has been tearing it up in his promotion as of late. He has now won 4 straight after retaining the title vs. Erik Ellis once again over the weekend. What is surprising is his amount of fan support. For perhaps a smaller name that many people aren’t familiar with, the voters came out in bunches to support him. With over 100 votes, he is the People’s Champ this week as he edged out Ricochet for #1 in the online fan poll.

9. Melvin Maximus-The OVW TV Champion has been as impressive as anyone in the Top 10 lately. He racks up wins every single week and this week was no different. Much like the OVW Heavyweight Champion, he has now won 4 matches over the last 2 weeks after going 2-0 this week once again. Since the Indy Power Rankings began in January 2013, he’d have to be put right up there with Randy Royal and Rockstar Spud as GREAT TV Champions. Unranked in the online poll.

10. Aaron Williams-The Rockstar Pro Champion made be hated among the fans in Dayton, OH, but there’s definitely a lot of respect there for the man who knocked off former 2 time #1 in the Indy Power Rankings, Benjamin Kimera, to begin this epic journey as champ. This week he defeated Ganger to extend his singles winning streak. “The Baddest Man Alive” has a big week ahead with two chances to climb the IPR ladder at Rockstar Pro. #9 in the online poll.

1st Honorable Mention. Marcellus King-Winner of a big 16 Man Battle Royal at CWF Mid-Atlantic, making a successful return. #3 in the online poll.

2nd Honorable Mention. Chris Cooper-The ESW Heavyweight Champion defeated Gabreal Saint to defeat his title at “Reckoning Day” on 3/1. 4th in the online poll.

Tag Team Top 5 for the Week of March 3rd, 2014

1. The Hooligans (Devin & Mason Cutter)-After a # 4 ranking last week and a #1 ranking in the online poll, these multiple promotion tag team champions were 2-0 on the weekend with wins vs. Dan Walsh & Jeremy Wyatt and ACH & Nick Jackson on 2/28 and 3/1 at St. Louis Anarchy’s “Gateway to Anarchy” shows. While their match vs. The Young Bucks did not take place due to Matt Jackson’s injury, a taste of one of the Young Bucks may just be enough to get a future shot at them down the line. Next up: A huge match vs. rivals, Team IOU at IWA Mid-South on 3/9. #2 in the online poll.

2. Killbillies (Aric Andrews & Evan Banks)-This impressive tag team had perhaps the best weekend of anyone this entire year…and yet ended up at #2. It was a bitter sweet weekend at CWF Mid-Atlantic for this tag team as they racked up 4 wins to win the PWI Tag Team Tournament with victories vs. Manny Garcia & Ryan Zane, Ray Kandrack & Zane Dawson, Rage and The Machine, and Chet Sterling & Trevor Lee. Had they been ranked last week, it’s likely they would have been #1 this week, but The Hooligans’ overall body of work in 2014 slightly edged them out. Regardless of that fact, expect to see this team ranked again in the future. #1 in the online poll with over 100 votes and “The People’s Champions” for this week.

3. Lucha Sisters (Mia Yim & Leva Bates)-On any other week, the new SHINE Tag Team Champions would have been #1, but this week was a week filled with difficult competition up and down the Top 5. With victories vs. The Kimber Bombs, The SNS Express, and Made in Sin, this ladies’ tag team (who have no problem beating up men as well) proved their worth this week. #4 in the online poll.

4. Dylan Bostic & Roberto De Luna-This somewhat new tag team has been VERY impressive lately and they proved that they’re here to stay when they teamed up to defeat former 2 time #1’s in Michael Hayes & Mohamad Ali Vaez for the OVW Southern Tag Team Titles this week. They were 2-0 this week to improve to 5-0 as a team. #5 in the online poll.

5. Team Single (T-Bone & Rampage Brown)-The PCW UK Tag Team Champions get in on the strength of a 3-0 weekend with tremendous victories vs. AJ Styles & Lionheart, Battle Squad Awesome, and Danny Hope & Mad Man Manson. Much like some of the others, on any other week they would have been #1, but again, heavy competition held them back a bit. Regardless, they are the first tag team from the UK to get ranked, proving that the talent overseas is just as deserving of mention as any in the States. #7 in the online poll.

1st Honorable Mention. Men of the Year (Michael Elgin & Ethan Page)-AAW Tag Team Champions defeated Kung Fu Manchu (Louis Lyndon & Marion Fontaine) and still undefeated as a team. #3 in the online poll.

2nd Honorable Mention. OI4K (Jake & Dave Crist)-Defeated former #1’s Los Ben Dejos to run their win streak to 3 straight. #6 in the online poll.

Logan Brothers (#9 in the online poll)
Ballard Brothers (#8 in the online poll)

Tag Team Top 5 for the Week of March 10th, 2014

Tag Team Top 5 for the Week of March 10th, 2014

1. Team IOU (Kerry Awful & Nick Iggy)-A boy and his dog pull off the shocker! The voting was so tight this week that the fans’ poll determined who was #1 and the winners were Team IOU. After 2 victories over the weekend vs. Brian Lee & Lee Condry on 3/7 at NWA SAW and last week’s #1 The Hooligans at IWA Mid-South, the voters were split. Would it be the reputation and belt collecting of the Young Bucks or would it be the consistency in 2014 of Team IOU? IOU won out. Never, ever underestimate their popularity or quite frankly, their ability to win. #1 in the online poll with 84 votes and People’s Champs this week.

2. Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson)-The team that was clearly the favorite heading into the voting came up just short of #1 this week after perhaps suffering from their 6 man tag team loss vs. The Briscoes and Michael Elgin on 3/7. They bounced back with arguably the biggest win of the weekend when they defeated reDRagon for the ROH World Tag Team Titles. They now hold the ROH, PWG, HOG, and IWGP Junior Tag Team Titles. Their first #1 in 2014 has got to be on the horizon. #2 in the online poll with 77 votes.

3. Beaver Boys (Alex Reynolds & John Silver)-Surprisingly, this is the first time the CZW World Tag Team Champions have been ranked in quite some time. Over the weekend they defeated The Front (Jaka and Niles Sozio) to once again retain the titles. They have won 4 straight as a team, with 3 successful title defenses, overall. 9th in the online poll with just 1 vote.

4. The Briscoes (Jay & Mark Briscoe)-“Dem Boys” get their first ranking in the Tag Team Top 5 (they had been ranked previously in the Indy Power Rankings before the Tag Team Top 5 existed) with 2 big wins over the weekend. It’s arguable what their record actually was (2-0 or 2-0-1?) but regardless, they were undefeated with big wins in a 6 man tag team match vs. The Young Bucks and Kevin Steen and then a No DQ match vs. Outlaw Inc. (Homicide and Eddie Kingston). 4th in the online poll with 8 votes.

5. The Hooligans (Devin & Mason Cutter)-It looked like these bearded bullies were going to get ousted after their loss vs. Team IOU on 3/9 at IWA Mid-South, but the fans came out and helped them score their 3rd straight ranking. It wasn’t all bad news on the weekend for them as they did retain their SNPW Tag Team Titles vs. Christian Rose and Matt Cage (both former #1’s in the singles Top 10).

1st Honorable Mention. OI4K (Jake & Dave Crist)-Teamed with Azrieal and Chris Dickinson to defeat Alex Colon, Biff Busick, and The Juicy Product at CZW to run their win streak to 3 straight. #6 in the online poll with 3 votes.

2nd Honorable Mention. The Decade (Roderick Strong, BJ Whitmer, & Jimmy Jacobs)-Went 2-1 on the weekend, suffering their first loss since forming. Still 6-1 overall since the Decade has formed. No votes in the online poll.

Just missing out/Others Receiving Votes:
Team Friendship (#5 in the online poll)
Josh Crane & Trik Davis
Iron Godz
Checkmate
Los Ben Dejos
Usual Suspects
2 Hot 2 Furious (#7 in the online poll)
