BOLA 2015

Postby eastbay510 » Mon Mar 23, 2015 6:49 pm

I know it's still a little early(not that early though, probally like 2 or 3 shows away), but I'm excited to see how PWG will follow last years amazing tournament. I personally hope it goes 3 days again, and even without some ROH guys I think there is plenty of talent to make it happen. Here's my lineup:

1)Roderick Strong
2)Ricochet
3)Johnny Gargano
4)Trevor Lee
5)Andrew Everett
6)Zack Sabre Jr.
7)Kenny Omega
8)ACH
9)Rich Swann
10)Chuck Taylor
11)Trent?
12)Tommaso Ciampa
13)Cedric Alexander
14)Biff Busick
15)Drew Gulak
16)Matt Sydal
17)"Walking Weapon" Josh Alexander
18)"All Ego" Ethan Page
19)John Silver
20)Alex Reynolds
21)"Speedball" Mike Bailey
22)Shane Strickland
23)Brian Cage
24)"Money" Matt Cage

If that was the line-up, that would be a damn good tournament.

Maybe it is a bit too early to decide on BOLA but if I have to say, I'm sure Cage and Strickland are fine and I wouldn't complain if they are in BOLA but I would replace one of them with Tommy End instead unless Kenny Omega or even Trent? ends up being unavailable, you could replace them with End as well or throw in Rocky Romero in there if Trent? ends up being available anyways.

Personally, for debuts, I would like to see Jonathan Gresham, Timothy Thatcher, Drew Galloway, Tyson Dux, or PJ Black (formerly known as Justin Gabriel). For returns, I would hope for Akira Tozawa, Karl Anderson, Alex Shelley, TJ Perkins Brian Myers, or Masaaki Mochizuki. Also a veteran participant I really would like to see get brought in would be 2 Cold Scorpio because he can still go or even bring in John Morrison to participate as well, he lives in the the area anyways and I think he could work well in PWG.

I would like to see international names being involved, I know Super Dragon mentioned he tried to bring in Masato Tanaka but something didn't work out but I would to see that work out again or maybe some other international guys like KUSHIDA, Tomohiro Ishii, Tomoaki Honma, Kota Ibushi, or some other NJPW guy that NJPW would have no problem taking losses in BOLA, maybe someone from Dragon Gate like T-Hawk or Big R Shimazu, or Daisuke Sekimoto for guys in Japan or maybe get guys like Pentagon Jr. or Flamita for luchadors.

Also, I do hope that certain guys in ROH have their contract end this year, not sure if their contract is up this year but generally Kyle O'Reilly, Adam Cole, Michael Elgin, and Bobby Fish returning would be nice as long as their ROH contract is ending.

Also finally, I would like to see AJ Styles returning but not as a BOLA participant obviosuly, instead put Styles in some non-tournament matches teaming with the Young Bucks instead.

I agree with some of what you're saying, but I disagree with some of it too(respectfully of course).

I think Strickland could be in because I was at this show in Arizona a couple months ago where Strickland/Trevor wrestled the Bucks and killed it, after Matt I was talking to Matt and he had so many nice things to say about him. If Cage came in he would have to be a heel, that's what makes him great.

I could deffinatly dig Tommy End in BOLA, in fact after I was asking about Axle Dieter Jr. on the other post I checked out some of his stuff and I heard he had an amazing match with Sabre at 16KG last month. I wouldn't mind seeing all three in BOLA.

Personally I do not want to see Romero, Johnny Nitro/Morrison/Mundo/whatever the fuck, or AR Fox after his awful match with ACH at the last show.

I would love to see New Japan guys, but I doubt there is any way that's happening, Tanaka is a freelancer now, which is possibly why he was almost booked. If there is Japanese talent I would like to see Tozawa or EITA.

One thing I think we can definatly agree on is there is pleanty of guys to have another 24 person tournament.

Ring of Honor is running in Atlanta that weekend. Any ROH talent will be on that show. Unless they leave ROH , odds are that ACH , Cedric Alexander , Matt Sydal , Chris Sabin and Andrew Everett will be in Georgia . You might want to get six backup names.

I would imagine some TNA talent might be booked , they can work indies now . Guys like Davey Richards , TJ Perkins , Low Ki , Drew Galloway , Kenny King and Austin Aries might become a more viable option for PWG . Since TNA , unlike ROH , does run houses.

Possibly though none of those guys have a contract with ROH anyways, so ROH can't exactly stop them from working PWG over ROH especially when it is BOLA

Davey coming back for BOLA would be awesome. Not a fan of Low Ki, so it would not be awesome for him to come back. Hahaha

I'm hoping for Kenny Omega, Zack Sabre Jr., and Tommy End to be in the lineup. Hero and End meeting up again would be awesome.

Someone suggested CJP, I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I would love to see him in BOLA. I actually bought the show last night after hearing that Bailey/CJP killed it(unfortunaty it is taking forever for the replay to be uploaded,so I still have not seen it).

PWG actually may have a potential problem with BOLA, although it's not a bad problem to have, it may be difficult to narrow the list to 24 guys. When I first made mine I didn't even realise I left off Hero. I didn't list Tommy End or Timothy Thatcher. If I had to leave people off I wouldn't have ACH or AR Fox in this thing with the matches they have been having. I wouldnt book Sabin as I feel like Sydal will probally make a deep run. I wouldn't split up Team Tremendous either, they are so much better together, unlike Silver, Reynolds, Page, and Alexander, who are all established singles wrestlers.

Good point, and thanks for clueing in. I already have names that I want to add after writing that initial 24, if you take away ACH, Cedric, Sydal, Sabin and Everett, id say add Timothy Thatcher, Jonathan Gresham, CJP, Eddie Edwards, Kenny Omega and Dave Mastiff

Yep, PWG is really spoilt for choice here. The indies are doing pretty damn well right now.

I 100% agree with you. I hate when people say "the indys arn't what they were ten years ago". Don't get me wrong, having all those guys in the indys at once was mind blowing, but they were all young at one point too; Samoa Joe was origianlly planned to wrestle only one ROH match, Danielson was "too one dimentional" to carry the ROH World Title, Steen and Generico wrestled a match so bad they stopped getting booked, and O'Reilly was once one of the most hated wrestlers on the indys. The point I'm trying to make is this is the best I've seen the indys in YEARS,even with all the WWE signings. There are a lot of young guys, but isn't that why we love independant wrestling? The indys and PWG's roster are just so diverse right now. I feel like id 5-10 years we will be saying "holy shit, I can't believe all these guys were all on the indys at once".

Not saying I'd want to see this, but there is enough great talent to book a 4 night 36 man tourney.

To me, I think WWE signing indies is a blessing for indies because it allows for new talent to step up and make a name for themselves instead. The only company that has been effected in losing talent is ROH really compared to PWG or any other indie as well as they haven't done a really good job to build up newer stars after the older ones left and the exclusivity contract with them is bullshit anyways.

I was the one who suggested CJP but I agree to not put Team Tremendous in a spot in BOLA compared to Silver, Page, Reynolds, and Alexander but I don't agree with cutting out ACH, Fox, or Sabin though, I think they should be in BOLA and can have great matches still. I do hope that Andrew Everett does choose to work BOLA for ROH, given he is just coming back from injury for over a year that made him miss BOLA last year and I would hope wrestlers not under contract with ROH chooses BOLA over a random ROH taping since I would think BOLA would have more exposure anyways than a random ROH taping.

Also as for Dave Mastiff, I wouldn't mind in PWG either but I personally would prefer PWG bring in Kongo Kong instead.

Also, I still, aside for Sabre and End, I would love for this year's BOLA to bring in a few international guys from Japan and Mexico involved.

Did you just suggest Kongo Kong? I just died a little bit.

The biggest thing I want to see is a third European. With the way End and Sabre's matches went and with Tischer getting signed by WWE I am very excited about wrestling in Europe at the moment. I have never seen Mastiff wrestle to be honest,so I can't comment on him,but I am officially on Dieter's bandwagon, would love to see him in Reseda.
